I do some downhill, but I just setup them up for some freeride/sliding stuff for my Nemesis because I really don't have too many big hills around where I live either
Getting comfortable doing downhill is just a progression. I made sure to get as comfortable as I could on the board before I even thought of bombing hills. Make sure you at least know one shut down slide or at least be able to footbrake effectively at high speeds. And the progression thing I mean that you should start on small hills or the lower part of big hills and slowly work your way up. I remember the first time I ate it pretty bad because I was just starting out, and I had my trucks really loose, and I tried to go down a big hill. I had them pretty tight for a while after that, and I slowly loosened them more and more as my ankles became more stable. Again just try to work your way up and your fear and the wobbles will go away. And a good tuck helps with stability too.
And that's sweet that your dad rides haha, mines does too. I've wanted to try Indys for a long time. Are you on Silverfish by any chance?

Man it's been a while since I've stepped foot on a longboard. It's much more enjoyable in warmer weather...I'll have to make it a goal this year and start riding again. I always wanted to try sliding. Lately, the only time I ride is when my dad wants to go up the street to the bank's empty little 2-story parking lot. Right now I just ride a 47" Gravity though I would like something a bit wider because my feet are size 14. I had a really cool 32" pool board, but I gave it to my dad -- that size is never going to work for me.
I am on Silverfish as Achtane, but I rarely visit there anymore Gotta get back into it! My focus shifted toward music gear these past couple years.

Yeah man, you totally should give it another chance. It can be just as life changing as music is. Just like when you finally think of an awesome riff or can finally play that one song, skating is the same way. Nothing can beat the feeling of accomplishment.
Your board is also perfect for a discipline people call "dancing." Look up videos by whoisadam and Loadednewsletter or just look up Adam Colton to see what it's all about.
I made out well this year. I am a lucky sob , I have an amazing family.

Nah.
They came with a little note say they'd help me quit smoking. I quit smoking two weeks ago and haven't cheated since. It's the pot smoking that has helped me quit smoking. And snacks.
These are only morsels of joy when they've been toasted in shell. These are raw not in shell. Maybe I can do something with them,...press em into cooking oil,...who knows.

Hey, I'm not the only one here from B.C.! Whereabouts are you located, good sir? Good haul by the way, one can never have enough boxers and plaid shirts.
