yeah my <5 year old iMac just decided to eat shit today while i was about to write an email.
good thing i haven't backed anything up in years or that the only hard drive i have/had was sort of fucked up anyway. there goes years of my compositions, sound ideas, graphic stuff, programs that i don't have start-up disks for, pictures, my fine music collection, personal and business information, and so on and so forth...
i'm working on trying to get it back up, but this really sucks. a lot.

Sorry man.. Yeah harddrives.... Any more I'm in the habit o backing up EVERYTHING in triple.. I think my old G4 has eaten 2 harddrives.. The drives would start making this clicking sound and I'd go "crap" and start transferring like mad What really taught me my lesson on backing up was fucking zip disks anyone remember those fucking things You thought you were alright, you thought you were backed up... then you'd put the disk in the drive to use it and... "clunk clunk clunk clunk clunk..." I lost so much data from those things:cry:

I'm in a similar situation. Luckily, I have a lot of things backed up....except for the last three months or so when I guess I got lazy.

It's so frustrating to have lost all those song/picture/story ideas that I've accumulated for the past couple of months. I'm trying to salvage as much as I can, though.

Rip out the drive, put it in an external HDD case, and transfer your data on another computer?

yeah, man, last christmas i somehow fried my HDD... no backup... alot of hard work went away...

i've done so much to try and get it working. i trolled forums and read every thread that even remotely sounded like it would help me out, then did a ton of diagnostic tests, debugging, etc.

brought it to the genius bar today and when i explained in detail the tests i did and stuff i checked, the guy was blown away... he didn't know what else to do so i asked him if they were hiring...
he was a little helpful in the end, though... we came to the conclusion that the logic board is fucked but i can save my data, which is the important part. i'm going to try and get it up and running again if i can find a refurb logic board, but who knows?
i still have this piece of shit laptop, though i will need to get something else...

so if anyone needs anything pedal-wise... hit me up. custom shit, clones, whatever. i need a new computer!
