when i was a kid i lived on the South Side of Chicago; though i was one of the few white kids around, our local band was the Impressions, and Blind Arvella Gray busked for quarters at my local L train stop. now i live near Santa Cruz, erstwhile home of insane psychedelic greats Moby Grape, and just around the corner from Lompico, where Jerry Garcia's finger was cut off in childhood. somehow this all makes sense.
