That reminds me of this blog I check out every now and then. This guy tells people what all of their kanji tattoos actually mean. It is friggin hilarious.

ONe of my freinds is in japanes and this is what he said:
It's pronounced "hon" and it means "book". It is the second of three kanji in the word "Nihongo". Mind you, the half circles are not part of the kanji.

Re: anyone have a basic knowledge of japanese kanji?
It's hon/moto, means book, and looks stupid on a wah pedal. I wonder what they thought it meant?htsamurai wrote:WTF DOES THE KANJI ON THE BBE WAH MEAN?!
At a stretch, it can also kinda mean true/real/origin, so maybe they mean shit just got real or it's the mother of all pedals or something?
You can use it to mean 'this' (like honjitsu for today) or main (like honsho for head office...)
It's also the counter used for long thin things (Japanese has a bunch of different words for things like that; think about how English has different words for groups of things, like a herd of cows and a flock of sheeple ... ), bu I still have no idea what they're trying to say by writing it without a number on a wah pedal.
Wonder if it's supposed to mean 'original' (which would be more like shohon: 正本 ?)
I'm leaning toward the way people get kanji tattoos for 'overhead cam shaft' thnking it means 'he who is strong of mind and spirit with an independent streak'
Japlish fail?

AFAIK the meaning is the same in Chinese, but I don't speak it so can't say for sure.
EDIT: Google translate Chinese -> English gives
1. noun
1. origin
2. basis
3. foundation
4. source
5. root
6. roots of plant
2. adjective
1. undergraduate
3. pronoun
1. this
