crack music - songs listened to at least 10 times in a week

Post by lawrence scaduto »

this thread is for crack music and crack music only

crack music are songs you have to listen to over and over again no matter what the consequences. sometimes you don't even get a chance for the tune to end before you hit that intro one more time just to get right.

the rules are you've had to have listened to it (BY CHOICE!) in the past week. or at least a week at somepoint in your life.

i'll start

"going down" - written by don nix and performed by both freddie king and jeff beck

freddies version (and the theme to Eastbound and Down)

i used to have a real sense of embarrassment when it came to classic rock blue stuff since it's so overdone. this week i realized i should embrace it from this song alone. maybe my next record should explore my classic rock roots?

this marks play number 9 today. that piano just kicks my ass.

if you listen to the chords it's super simple 1 4 5 stuff. but fuck is it hard and vibey as all hell.

one of my fave bands, i just find this song super catchy. he's changed the way I play

probably my fave modern band/currently making music band. They're shows are always super fun, and everyone (or at least most everyone) is dancing and singing along and it's just a blast. Their show with Cymbals Eat Guitars as the opener is the best show I've ever been to.

i can understand this one as it's hooky as fuck and confusing to the brain: "who is singing now"?

if you post in this thread you must offer an explanation as to why a certain song has got you on the pipe.

My absolute number one right now. Thanks to Steev for turning me on to them. This song just grips me because its so melancholy, yet so full of beauty and love. I've listened to it at least 10 times this week.

This next song is the absolute pinnacle Isis reached. Best lyrics, best vocals, best song structure. This is what they spent a decade building towards. The build-up from 3:50 to 5:20 (including kick-ass cameo by Adam Jones) is so awesome, and then the huge releasing climax. Truly epic. I easily average 5-10 listens a week on this one.

This one has been in non-stop rotation in my car on the way to work, every day both directions. Awesome blend of d 'n' b, jungle and dubstep. Plus John Davis is one of the coolest cats over on Talkbass and his bass work is epic.

I had a serious addiction to this song for a few weeks after I bought the album. I had overcome it, but now that I've seen the video (which is fucking awesome, can't beat a cat playing a dba Robot) I think I'm going to have a major relapse.

Thanks to Kosta, I have not been able to stop playing this:

This I stumbled across courtesy of Stompboxsonic:

And I can't even remember where I found this, but it's been stuck in my head ALL WEEK LONG:
