Also, if you create a community based on openly flying your freak flag without being a douchebag to others, crowd mechanics will actually work in a semi-rational way and keep the cool people in while pushing the asshats out.

that dudes like MLC and Wizard are the best 'cuz they help your band make records even if you are really socially awkward
