my basic model is no reviews, whatsoever. simple minimalistic layout, probably with no text even. the website appears only with two featured tracks at the top of the page, and a bunch of embedded tracks down the page. (like a blog. the showcased tracks would be where the header would be, and etc...) after you listen to a song (and actually listen to it... i'm thinking 30 seconds of playtime, minimum) then the artist, title, album art, community vote, etc is displayed. after you listen to an entire track, you can vote on it. i'm thinking something simple, like 1-5 hearts or stars or whatever. then you can comment on the track. (obviously comments are only visible to people who have listened already. ) i guess you'd have to create an account to keep track of who has listened to what, especially over a long period of time.
the point of the site is to fully experience the music before you create any opinion. i think titles, names, reviews, numerical ratings all being presented alongside the music cause preconceived notions. it's kind of a response to popular tastemaking sites. plus i hate the way almost all music reviews are written.
does this make any sense? any ideas/opinions, etc?
i'll probably photoshop out a mock up in a day or two.
