Because they weren't shot in 3D, all we're likely to get is the originals (which some of us loved) re-re-rebutchered by intrusive gratuitous add-on CGI and a whole bunch of stupid cheesy 'and not I will fly my X-wing directly into the camera' nonsense. How do you convert a film to 3D? You don't is how. This horse has been flogged to death, stripped of its skin, and sodomised and now George Lucas is going to give it a dirty Sanchez just for good measure.
I'm guessing a lot of the ire has to do with this is some of our childhoods he's pissing all over.

This is the only kind of Star Wars 3D that rules. Purposely crappy cell phone picture so that it looks like an old TV dubbed VHS copy of the original trilogy.
