I'd rather read this thread than go on TB anymore. It has gotten really fucking gay since the god damn shitcunting VT Bah! came out (yes, I blame it). Even still, the FX forum is the only decent place to be, the other forums are beyond dumb, but always sort of were best I can tell. I read some non-FX thread today where people were confused by the name Big Muff. WTFFFFFFFF EAT SOME PUSSY AND LEARN!!!

Oh well, still some cool people over there, and I got my current job via TB (which I love), so I suppose I shouldn't bitch. Loudly.

If I buy a bass big muff will that get me pretty close to justin chancellor's tone? Does geddy lee use one? speaking of geddy lee I heard he uses badass bridges should I go get a badass I heard they add more sustain.

will the bass big muff give me more sustain? i heard it sounds like an svt if you leave it off because of the twin germanium capacitors, pretty sure theres an orange drop in there. probably a 500k one. 500k gives you the growl you know. does justin chancellor use 500k orange drops?

Yeah every time I see you post at TB I think "oh cool, this might be a good thread" and then... well it is for a moment.

I think when my last bit o' sale ends over there, I'll probably leave for a spell. Not swearing is fucking stupid. Look, we're all adults, and as such, are allowed to act as god damn immature as humanly fucking possible. The only time I got a red card (or whatever) was when I said CUNTING in OT. Like it's my cunting fault their swear filter sucks balls!

It seems most of the best TBFX denizens have wandered this way anyhow.

Did you buy a big old stinky tube amp yet? My Mesa 400 seriously makes the entire house smell like mildew, but only on certain days. One more reason to it.

That reminds me, time for a serious post! Other than the Mesa 400 I honestly haven't heard a ton about 200/300/more watt tube amps for bass, other than Ampeg stuff. And the Verellen Meat Smoke.

What else is out there that the pathetic commoners could purchase?

Sunn/fender makes one, Peavy made one, Eden made one, Markbass makes one, Orange makes two... That's it for me without putting any real thought or searching into the question.

That said I fucking love my 400+ and my Orange

The Peavey VB-2 is really good for damn cheap. My first one pooped out on me, and the only reason I got rid of the second one is because I already have two tube heads and really... that's plenty. For my back.

I <3 the old Trace Elliot V-Type / V4 / V6 / V8 amps, they are rare but not terribly expensive when you find one.

Mesa has lots of used ones out there, still waiting for their 400+ replacement, but I probably wouldn't buy one as long as my old 400 keeps on keepin' on.

Ashdown (same dudes from Trace Elliot back in the good days) has a whole slew of tube amps currently available but their pricing SUCKS. Plus I don't know how widespread those are yet.

I still lust for an Orange head, too expensive for me but I'll probably scoop one up some crazy drunken eButt night anyhow.

Laney has that Nexus thing that occasionally goes for dirt cheap on clearance, but that sorta worries me. Plus I think it's 2o378452 watts RMS, and that's no fun really. Fuck headroom!

Ampeg... bah. I hate that fucking company. Which is too bad because I really love the B-15 we have at work.

Verellen, Morgan, Matamp, Wizard, etc. None of them are very cheap though. Verellen used to be, but I guess business picked up, good for them, seem like good dudes.
