first of all, Canada is not on the opposite side of the globe. it doesn't cost that much more money to send things here than it does to send a pedal from one side of the US to the other. PLUS, I FUCKING PAY FOR SHIPPING MYSELF. Put it in your fucking post if you won't ship outside of your country.
secondly, when doing transactions, check the location of ppl BEFORE you have them send you money. I just spent USD $5.50 for you to give me a refund?! WTF!
thirdly, have the mf'ing respect enough to email me and let me know what's going on... don't have me emailing and PM'ing you to no avail, only to have you turn around and pull this crap while STILL not even letting me know what the deal is.

That is really lame. WTF is people's problem with shipping int'l? I do it all the damn time. It's not like it's so much more hassle. It's one extra click on the USPS website, and then you just tell the person at the post office "This is international". Then you walk out. How f'ing hard is that?
It actually costs me less to shit to Canada sometimes. I just gotta go to the post office to do it.
You can do all the international shit online at this point (although, it costs a lot more if you're shipping to Canada). As long as they pay... whatever.
So question...what's the point of doing that stuff online when you have to go to the post office anyway? Also, I ship intl when people ask, but I usually have to fill out extra paper work when doing so (to Eur, not Can). Some people are just lazy as hell.

1. USPS gives you a discount when you do it online (usually saves a buck or two) 2. So, after all that he sent you a separate PP for your refund that you then got charged the PP %age on rather than issuing a proper PP refund which means they reverse the charges on him and you don't have to pay to get your money back? Sounds like you were just dealing with a moron. I've never understood the 'it's too much trouble' argument at all. How fucking lazy do you have to be to not be bothered to fill in the 6 words or so you need to put on an international mail form? (I've always wanted to post a bunch of Klons for sale on TGP for $300 each but shipping only in Canada and see what happens)
EDIT: FWIW there's also myus.com if you have to deal with teabaggers, but there's still no way you can add your US forwarding address to your Canadian paypal account, so it might not help much.

I just leave boxes in my mailbox with the flag up. If there will be too many, I schedule a pickup the day before and have them pick it up at the door.

That's cool, I didn't know all that. I don't have a printer though so I haz no advantage. The PO is right up the road from me, I don't really have a problem going. They know me by now from all the pedal'ing
I'm Canadian too, and the fact is that a lot of people and companies view shipping up here as a way to make a few more bucks. There have been many times when I've spent a ridiculous amount for shipping, and then when the item shows up, the shipping label shows that it only cost about half what I paid to actually ship it. Very annoying.
It's actually a lot more money to send stuff to canada if you send it priority...you can go first class on the cheaps but there is no insurance/tracking there. I've done first class to Canada a few times without a hitch, but the risk is there.
...but if you're offering to make up the difference and chip in for shipping
