Re: 2025 2 LYFE ::FINGERS WAGGIN'::
Cool updates to the MicroKorg 2 in the v2, particularly noticeable for access to the Logue SDK for third party effects and oscillators (though existing plugs may need to be adapted to MK2). Not the most amazing kit ever but this does a lot to extend the useful life of what may be a common first synth. And will make the used market worth watching.

(I don't remember if I posted this before in the new types of effects thread, but these are my thoughts on the topic...)
I still feel like new sounds are available by mixing and matching in new or unexpected ways. --Think of it like a chef. In the FX world, people are talking about finding a new spice...like you'd need to find a whole new plant or herb to get new flavors. That's not usually how it works though.
Instead, people should consider combining things that are less obvious. ---By mixing and matching effects, you won't necessarily get a whole new effect (dish), but rather new textures (flavors). (like bitcrushed delay + poly-harmonizer...or phaser + RM + filter....or trem-vibrato-phaser-flanger)

Re: 2025 2 LYFE ::FINGERS WAGGIN'::
I was listening to that yesterday, and I like the way the textures blend. You won't necessarily get that with stacked modulation in series. I may not buy one, but I thought it was a pleasant wrinkle, in terms of how the sounds coalesced together. I listened to the Soft Focus Ghost the other week, and I liked it, too.dubkitty wrote: ↑Tue Oct 07, 2025 2:11 pm new Catalinbread Proto Club series release, by far the most interesting so far to me. it's called the Pads, and was apparently inspired by an effect on a Tame Impala track. it combines reverb, chorus, and square-wave tremolo. sounds pretty good, but i have to ask: why do i need this when i already have chorus, reverb, and square-wave tremolo?

This vid sold me even more on the MicroKorg 2:

I didn't realize Korg discontinued the Prologue. The Sinevibes Albedo plugin is a favorite of mine---Microcosm sounds on the cheap. (and easier to master) Their Rerun is another one, that I use regularly (a cleaner offering for stutter/chop/glitch). I could definitely see the MK2 making someone happy, who doesn't have thousands to throw at premium pedals.

Some software news---
(1) Cherry Audio revealed their Korg Trident tribute. While the Mono/Poly gets a lot of fanfare, I've always felt the Trident was the lushest and most desirable of the Korg poly units.
https://cherryaudio.com/products/trident-synthesizer (specs/trial download)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dr5aU0g ... aWRlbnQ%3D (intro reveal)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBECg96 ... hyohjO8%3D (no talking)
(2) AudioThing's take on the Juno adds 4 onboard FX for $69 ($39 intro price). AT is my favorite plugin company, when it comes to interfaces. You can lock as many paremeters as you want, and then randomize the rest. It makes creating new and unexpected sounds extremely fast and efficient. https://www.audiothing.net/instruments/june/ (info, demo download)
(3) Rainbow Circuit teamed up with Daedelus to launch Tinge, a gorgeous arpeggiator that is as pscyhedelic, as it is polychromatic. I love the motion graphics on this. There's a placeholder for a demo version, which is not yet available. If you're ready to pull the trigger without test-driving it, Tinge sells for $32 (Mac/Windows). I've played a few clips of this in the background, but I'm not sure how random/generative this is. It seems quite intriguing though.

(They also did a DFAM-inspired perc synth a few months ago called Motherly. Some people may be interested in that. demo here>> https://www.rainbowcircuit.co/devices/motherly)

(4) Intro price is still available for Dawesome's Kontrast, which utilizes a nonlinear wavetable engine. ($89 intro, $149 regularly)
https://www.dawesomemusic.com/plugins/kontrast (trial download available for Mac/Windows)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFzvlCuOEPw (first sounds)
(5) Nembrini teamed up with H&K to offer a virtual take on the beloved Rotosphere. It's kind of surprising, given how many Leslie emulators are already out there, but the Rotosphere was king of the Leslie stompboxes for a while.
($29 intro, $99 is the suggest regular price) --I'm a fan of their Delay3000, which is a take on the 1980s SDE-3000. I imagine this does a solid job of replicating what people enjoy about the original floor unit.

(6) MNTRA has a new 6-algo disortion. ($29 intro, $49 regularly...no trial available though) https://www.mntra.io/product/bruitage/

Everything We Dont Know About The Ocean Floor V2For all the schematics I have looked at over the years and all the ways I have seen people create distortion in circuits there was a method involved with transistor biasing (and thus potential fuzz level) that I’d never actually seen someone make adjustable. Why weren’t people doing that? Did it not work? Did it sound bad? I wanted to dig in and figure it out.
Turns out it not only worked but it sounded really cool and pretty unique, ranging from clangy and bitey overdrive all the way to an zippery and compressed fuzz, while maintaining a surprising amount of clarity along the way. So I designed the Kimchi around this idea and range of sounds.
https://www.bsriaudio.com/product/every ... n-floor-v2The circuit in V2 has been completely overhauled and rebuilt from the ground up to be a wonderfully flexible chorus and pitch modulation device. The updated design adds a new wet/dry mix control, an active tone control on the modulated signal, additive and subtractive mixing, an extra deep mode, and two configurations for switching the second LFO in and out of the control system. Its a lot of stuff. Lets dig into the controls.

Super Arcing Prisms from Iron Ether, anyone?
https://ironether.com/product/super-arcing-prisms/Super Arcing Prisms takes the psychedelic spiraling modulation, frequency shifting and delay effects of the Arcing Prisms and adds instant foot-switch access to four different sounds – kind of like presets, but without losing the WYSIWYG interface style that Iron Ether pedals have always had.
[...] This setup gives quick access to the variety of mystical sounds in the Arcing Prisms:
Phasers that seem to shift forever up or down
Flangers that don’t sweep
Bell-like inharmonic frequency shifting tones
Delays that become increasingly phased and psychedelic with every repeat
Unnamed modulations that are halfway between each of these at the same time
Expression pedal can control any of the main parameters, sweeping from a flanger to delay, or phaser to frequency shifter

i guess nobody's ever going to make an oil can delay with even 1 second of hang time. sad!
