GAHH!!

So, mid-July, I got a coupon to Musician's Friend in the mail. 20% off my next order. Awesome, right? Even awesomer, I'm buying a new guitar. So, just looking at it, I figured big savings on the guitar, and I'd grab all the extra accessories I've been needing lately, but have been too cheap to buy.

Moments ago, I pulled out the coupon to check the expiration date. At the same time, I noticed some teeny-tiny text down in the bottom left hand corner. Exclusions. Wat. So I check the URL to see what's excluded.

Everything is excluded.

Offer Exclusions

The following manufacturers have chosen not to participate in this promotion: A-Designs, Adam, Allen & Heath, Alvarez, American Audio, American DJ, Ampeg, Aphex, Apple, Apogee, ART, Audio-Technica, Audix, Avalon, BAM, Behringer, Besson, Bixonic, Blackheart, Blue, Bogner, BOSE, BOSS, Brio, Buffet-Crampon, Carl Martin, Cerwin-Vega, Chandler Limited, Chauvet, Cleartone, Conn, Courtois, Crate, Daking, Digitech, Drawmer, DW, Eden, Edirol, Electro-Voice, EMG, Eminence, Engl, Epiphone, ESP, Euphonix, Eventide, EVH, Fender, Fender Custom Shop, Fishman, Fox, Fuchs, Fulltone, Furman, Gator, Gemeinhardt, Getzen, Gibson USA, Gibson Custom, Godlyke, Golden Age Project, Grace Design, Gretsch, Guild, Guyatone, HHB, Ibanez, ISP Technologies, Jackson, Jet City Amplifiers, Jupiter, Kanstul, Kawai, KORG, Kramer, KRK, Langevin, Latin Percussion, Line 6, Ludwig, Mackie, Manley, Mapex, Marshall, Martin, Maxon, Meinl Weston, Millennia, Miraphone, Mogami, Mojave Audio, Moog, Music Man, Music XPC, N-Tune, NS Design, Orange Amps, Ovation, Parker, Pearl, Peavey, Pigtronix, Pioneer, PreSonus, Propellerhead, PRS, QSC, Radial, Randall, Rane, Rivera, Roc-N-Soc, Rode, Roland, Royer, Rupert Neve Designs, Sabian, Schecter Guitar Research, Selmer, Selmer Paris, Sennheiser, Serato, Shure, SKB, Solid State Logic, Squier, Stanton, Steinberg, Steinberger, Stephanhouser, Sterling by MusicMan, Summit Audio, SWR, Takamine, Tama, Tapco, Taylor, Tech 21, Telefunken, Tobias, Traveler Guitar, Traynor, True Systems, Tube-Tech, Ultimate Support, Universal Audio, Vestax, VOX, W.Nirschl, Washburn, Weber Speakers, Weril, Yamaha, Yamaha Band & Orchestra, Z.Vex Effects, and Zildjian.

Sorry, discounts not combinable with other coupons or special offers, and not valid on purchases of Stupid Deal of the Day, some exclusive and limited edition styles, gift certificates, items with free gifts, factory restocks, or MF Gold Coverage and extended warranties.

I really see why people hate Musician's Friend. :grumpy:

I'm ordering the guitar elsewhere now.

It's no wonder that they had to use a URL to show the exclusions. The coupon would have turned into a novel if they had been printed on it. :whateva:

I kept trying to think of brands they sell and find one that isn't on the list.

That is amazing.

I think they sell Devi, which isn't on the list.

Sucks when that happens. Not all the MF coupons are like that though.
I had one for the month of July that worked on nearly everything but uber top shelf stuff.

Also, sometimes if you call and be nice they'll honor the coupon for whatever you want.
There are some that call me...morningstaru?

wouldn't it have been easier to just tell you which manufacturers you can purchase... in this case none.

Got a few bucks knocked off the price as well. Super nice customer service people, and it ships in a week or so. :thumb:

I got a coupon like that and I used it to get a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24. So, they aren't entirely useless.

But, my hard drive died and I haven't been able to use it yet.

Huzzah!

I noticed that too.

Also, I usually get these terrible, non-useable coupons for GC all the time. But, I recently loop-holed my way into a Gibson Grabber. My roommate's dad has a tax-free account, saving $55, and then, if I trade in anything (read: TOTALLY ANYTHING, meaning an Ibanez starter bass I got from a friend), I get 10% off the bass, saving $70. And, the rest of it is being payed through selling pedals and a bass to friends. I think I may end up paying $115 out of pocket for this $700 bass.

The ATK? I only have it because Scott Reeder played one. And, it was cheap. But, GRABBER IS BETTER.
