def - and it seems Mono Division does recognize the distortion possibilities (i heard through the grapevine we may be treated to a demo of this one
)

Re: Ring (and/or Balanced) Modulation for the masses
things that make me go hmmmm:
has anybody ever attempted to connect multiple amplitude modulators in an arrangement like frequency modulators and operators in and FM synth algorithm? how would that go?
[i mean, i guess there are already a bunch of modules in eurorack that incorporate ring mod as one aspect of sound generation/warpage (the CG Products XR-22 leaps to mind), but i don't see anybody linking ring modular units as operators/modulators in complex arrangements the way frequency mods are in FM synthesis algos

Cask is a great store. That looks sweet! I’d buy it except I don’t need it and I hardly use the pedals I have now!!!

SPKJr is kind of a nice blending character type thing. As a ring mod, there are a lot better ones; Spkjr has some balancing issues and some odd volume drop (I’m a huge LAL fan though). It’s just not as good as the senior. I think toxic plant is a better pedal from that era.
Dandolin:
check out the AM side of the instruo complex oscillator. There is some interesting stuff.
Blind Monk also had a stand alone synth that had ring mod everywhere but I don’t know if it ever came out.
Early Kong stuff had some stuff like that (700s).
Bode had several designs. He had one based around frequency shifters. I posted a link to a build somewhere in this thread (by a buckle 100 guy...guitar freak or something).
I do stuff like that sometimes. Sometimes more like modulate/demodulate.

I have a Feber showing up today or tomorrow. Looking forward to trying out this twist on RM/BM.

Re: Ring (and/or Balanced) Modulation for the masses
Okay guys, I can confirm Feber is really, really good - very cool how it gets phasey/flangey/tremy at different settings but it also does a solid ring mod. I think the non-standard modulation stuff, emphasizing specific sidebands, etc is where it shines. If I was wanting a ring mod for ring mod only, probably would be looking for a Randy's Revenge or something but again: it's a good ring mod and you have a wide range of useable sounds from harsh to beautiful available, expression pedal is fun - all with a good interface for not too much space so I think it's a winner.

agreed. The voicing on the Feber's ring mod is so bell like it's just gorgeous.

Very interesting. I have a similar use for ringmods in the band context-->screaming stabs of noise!Chankgeez wrote:Yeah, I totally wanna Feber.![]()
