Re: The Coffee Thread

I had the pleasure of being the roastmaster for my uncles company Ahrre's Coffee in Westfield NJ, for about two years. I know how to roast the perfect bean, and don't you know it. It was the best job i ever had.

I could be a coffee snob, it's sort of like wine, all the complexities

but i have a bit of a sweet tooth and my favourite flavour in the world is 7/8 of the cup of black, 1/8 half & half, and generally 1 - 2 teaspoons of raw sugar. So generally it doesn't matter what coffee i use (no Maxwell house, no pilao, no folgers, none of that nestle bullshit, only my uncle's stuff) when i do it this way. This is my midday, candy flavour.

I don't have a french press but that's how i'd go if i had one. I generally do a quick cup melitta if i need it, i have this neat single cup hot water warmer thingy. We have a drip in my house, it's okay, i don't really drink coffee as much lately unless i'm in the studio or have to wake up early, so it works.

To be honest i'm more of a tea fellow. In the fall and winter i'll drink 5-10 cups of tea a day! and when i lived in london, forget about it. Too many adorable tea shoppes to count.

this is my uncle's shoppe, it's awesome.

my favourite beans, generally are the indonesian coffee's, Java and especially Sumatra Mandhelling. Such a bold, rich, complex taste. Fucking awesome when i'm drinking it black. That's early morning shit, and studio shit.

Oh, and when i'm having a coffee, i'm going to smoke a cigarette. if i have them. i don't really buy packs because when i do i smoke a whole lot real fast.

My uncle and i actually grew a coffee plant in his house and had enough beans to roast one very tiny batch, which we roasted and had enough grounds to make about 2 cups melitta. That was one of the coolest things i think i've ever done. I guess it's like growing your own vegetables. but cooler.
I've got a fuzzbox and i'm not afraid to use it

I have loved coffee for a long time. I love the taste of (good) coffee and usually have coffee at least once a day in the winter. I have drank a lot of coffee in the past, been addicted a few times and needed to ween myself off it (you don't wanna know me in withdrawl) cause I hate having to keep my body in check with the caffeine. I enjoy tea a lot more now and can feel a huge difference in my body's well being. No more feeling like my viens are being ripped out of my body. In moderation, I love it. With weed, in excess or moderation, I love it.

There's a coffee place in Cleveland, Phoenix Coffee. My ex lived down there, and we would always get it. I brought a bag of their Blue Moon blend back home and it's still my favorite ever.

Found out you can order it online: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?saved& ... =fbx_album

Highly recommended. I drink darkest roast, black, though...

Use a french press at home because it's less of a hassle than starting the drip but most of the coffee i drink isn't that great unless its from a cafe. Have an espresso machine but it's a piece of shit. I sometimes do cold brew which can be really nice and it usually turns out a bit less acidic and just different than normal coffee but it's a bit of a hassle planning ahead a full day and you end up using more coffee.

im switching to tea
i have to ditch the coffee i just cant sleep!

My best pal had this lebanese girlfriend who made mad coffee, it was like turkish but spiced with something. Might've been cardamom :idk:

I used to love these:

Mixed the coffee with a few grains of salt and some cinnamon, then drank it with sugar.

But then I moved in with a dude that had this:

And from then on I couldn't stand the coffee from my old machine. But I could never afford a real espresso machine. So now I use this:

And am quite happy with it. The Siphon I have takes much too long, it's more for decorative purposes and the occasional showing off.
