But supposedly JHS went as far as to call retailers, and say that Devi had ripped his design, and try to have them stop carrying her wares. This was from her so, take that how you will.
coldbrightsunlight wrote:I have to admit I remember nothing of this at all and just because Devi isn't perfect doesn't mean other people should be assholes, so I wasn't trying to defend JHS. I'm just here for the cheap jokes. :animal:
By no means was I trying to defend either of them either (they can handle these tings) carry on

Honestly, if I ignore the normal JHS cringe shit that always comes up, those videos aren't that bad. They are made well, the info is there (some times), etc.

TBH I have never watched any - because I don't really watch a lot of pedal youtube stuff beyond straight up demos (and even those I do not watch much anymore)

His vids are more almost interesting, and almost informative. No don't watch that whole vid, only the end is relevant to the thread.. but can't time stamp... basically Ranger is inspiring him or making him think he needs to do something... creative...

:thumb: I'm in the same boat. I can't remember if his voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me, but my brain says it is, so I steer clear.

To flog the benefit of doubt/make stretches for suspension of disbelief, each capacitor is going to introduce a little bit of phase lag as output charge migration follows the AC signal applied at the capacitor input. These shifts are typically outside of polarity based correction schemes, and are therefore avoided insofar as possible by normal white-coat technicians, but it may contribute a nuanced sonic fingerprint/charm that was deemed desirable, even if it was simply an act of laziness rebellion.

I might've missed it, but I feel like one of the most important threads is missing from the JHS-Devi saga. Josh "I can't even come up with an original name for my pedal company" Scott allegedly called several dealers threatening them if they sold Devi's pedals. I've never heard of anyone trying to shame/blackmail/boycott dealers before, because of a perceived rival. I've had dealers tell me they didn't want to carry the same brands as other dealers, but I've never heard of any builder-vs-builder feud, where someone threatened to pull their pedals and blacklist a dealer, because they wouldn't stop carrying a competitor.

It's not like I know about the political background or religion of any of the builders of my other pedlols, for all I know I've funded dozens of nazi bike thieves and left wing animal molestors :idk:

I give zero shits about JHS cuz nearly all their pedals are boring overpriced clones.

^ That's true I don't know the provenance of most of my pedals and you can't act on what you don't know. But if the information came to light on a builder I was considering buying from it would become a factor.

I don’t buy his pedals because they don’t interest me at all, and I’ve heard the talk of his affiliations with sketchy churches with agendas I do not support and I do not care for that sort of thing, although if he has changed his tune I’m not the sort of person who “cancels” someone for life if they are able to grow and change and become a better person.... for the most part! Rapists and abusers do not get to hit that reset button once they’re called out and they say they’re sorry. I mean it man I will drop your ass like a hot fucking potato.

That being said I have watched a few of his videos. They’re okay. I liked the Behringer one and the Jason Lamb one.

If it weren't for all the (justified) hate posts about JHS he probably wouldn't get any mentions on here. Shit is bland af and the aesthetics are uggo.
