Hey did they give you Vicodin too when they did that? Because they gave me that, though it didn't really feel all too bad afterwards, though I did drunk call my friend right after the surgery. Good times.

My jaw is still numb and it's been two years. I have no feeling in one cheek doc said he must of got into a nerve. It is better than dealing with the paid of the wisdom teeth though.
Hey did you get to keep the teeth?

Yeah. Fuck that.

I told my dentist I'm keeping mine.

He asked why and I told him I was going to use them to knaw on bones...

This.

I've been told since I was like 7 that I'd have to have mine taken out. I decided to see how they would come in, and if really necessary, I'd get them pulled.

In the past few months, one has grown in perfectly, with the other top one right behind it, and the two bottom ones show no signs of ever even coming in. :whateva:

/saved $2000 by going with my gut.

Seriously. Dentists and orthodontists suck.

Mine would start to come in and go back under, they finally broke off pieces of the teeth in front of them. My advice is getting them taken out sucks but its better to get it done early than suffer the brutal beating the doc gave me.

I guess I was lucky when I got mine out last year. Not much pain to speak of, got Vicodin, and the surgery was actually necessary (as the extra teeth were gonna mess up my molars). Strange thing is that one of the four wisdom teeth never actually existed in the first place.

Then again, a few days later I was on the other side of the country doing some camping and rock climbing for 10 days.

Yeah - if it's necessary it's one thing. If it's just a dentist or orthodontist trying to screw you out of $2,000 it's another, and it happens way too often.

My orthodontist tried to convince me to pull the wisdom teeth, pull one tooth on either side of my top teeth, and then surgically lengthen my jaw with bone from my hip (another surgery) and bolted in metal rods.

His reasoning behind this 25k suggestion was: "Your chin isn't very pronounced. Don't you want it to be more like a male model's?"

I would have basically told him what he could do with a model's chin, but I already had braces on and was half way through to the date that I got them off.

If he had been rambling about that kind of bullshit from the start I would have surely found a different orthodontist. :hello:

My experience was probably alot different than most...my main complaint, atleast after the first day or so, was from the stitches.
Of course, I had my wisdom teeth removed in the hospital, rather than the actual dentist office (had to go under full surgical anesthesia.)
maybe not the best idea..but i probably wouldnt have been able to do it with local anesthetic :erm:
