In synth news, Gibson has returned all legal rights of the Oberheim brand to Tom Oberheim. (similar to Roland's relinquishing of the Sequential name back to Dave Smith)

Any news on timing? I've heard shipping in late August, but there have been many dates that have come and gone for these. The Eristic wrote:Regarding purple thing:brak purp wrote:What is this distinctively purple thing you speak of?

yeah Snamm was great for gabbing but kind slow on new stuff.
Purpll is the most refined and the most wild PLL i have played. As far as availability scott said he made a bunch so -big shrug-
the new FARM dual phaser thing is fun as hell.
The III Plazma was on of the best pedals I played at the show. the octaves with the gate are so glitchy and piercing. the two octaves down combined with the octave up could do some real damage.
The Demedash 112+ and Birmingham Sounds twentyseventeen are great and i dont see them mentioned around here much.
the New Spiral sounded great wish i could have tried it in the middle of the chain.
I also want to publicly say that Danny W sneaking up on me was one of the best parts of SNAMM

Mimeophone is expected to ship from Make Noise soon. PCA just opened a pre-order page, too. ---I think this has been in development since around 2016, but I'm not sure if Tom Erbe was involved at that time.

The Mimeophon music synthesizer module is a stereo, multi-zone color audio repeater by Make Noise and soundhack, coded by Tom Erbe.
The Mimeophon (from Greek mimeo (repeat/copy) and phon (sound)) is a modern take on various historical sound copying, echo and repeating devices. It allows for Stereo modulations of Time, Space and Timbre of Mono or Stereo sound sources. The Mimeophon is capable of modulating and morphing time scales of repeated sound from micro-sound to note to phrase length while also coloring and spatializing the repeats.

I'm loving the newer make noise modules, but man is their graphic design and ui getting worst by the release.

Yeah, this is actually the first one where I really want the module, but I dislike the UI so much that I'm going to avoid it. I used to defend them, but I can't tell what anything does on this thing.Inconuucl wrote:I'm loving the newer make noise modules, but man is their graphic design and ui getting worst by the release.

Newest stuff in the shop is to the tune of hundreds of units of 856 and Ct5 so I am hopeful there are hundreds of PurPLLs made available.AZX309 wrote: Purpll is the most refined and the most wild PLL i have played. As far as availability scott said he made a bunch so -big shrug-

Sounds like an expensive gimmick, like pretty much everything Jack White touchesechorec wrote:price confirmed on the Plasma Coil...$300 for standard & $350 for yellow

I thought the Plasma was a fun gimmick but ultimately a gimmick, but the Plasma Coil is pretty incredible. I’m most likely going to get one (if I can sell some things) and put it on my board in the ring mod’s spot

The Flashback is getting another tweak. It now features 6 TonePrints, 6 onboard presets, 3 Mash switches, and a Crystal algorithm (Eventide Pitchfactor?).
At $250, I'd lean toward the DD-200, despite its editing limitations. I'm also skeptical of how many people would replace a Nemesis in a head-to-head comparison.
Lastly, it seems they're still refusing to fully embrace MIDI, allowing for greater external memory.

Re: 2019 happenings (Summer NAMM p.90)
t.c.’s MIDI in the Toneprint/Ditto stuff has always disappointed to the extent that it has even had it. The Mash switches are interesting, and okay, some specialized algorithms that catch up to the competition of eight years ago. But that’s kind of like putting a spoiler and rims on a Geo Prizm. As the Knobs demo of the Flashback Triple suggests, there are probably good, music inspiring sounds that can be gotten out of this. But not giving me any tingle.
