heyyyyyyyyy

good to see you back

dont know how long you've been away really because I kinda dont go on as much anymore either but yeah this is whats been going on:
- everyone is into eurorack
- yeah thats about it perhaps there has been some infighting and drama but i dont know much about it
Hey man! good to see you again as well.
That was happening last time I was on. I'd assumed it would be a full eclipse by now.
And yeah, its ILF, there's always drama. But you know, everyone works it out normally.
Unless they didn't this time.
In which case....actually I'm not sure what to make of that.

You know what?
I don't care.

well, at the moo-ment i'm basically burned out like a lightbulb cos i've been pulling ridiculous OT hours to build up savings and other resources for my road trip in September. my spine is all fucked up atm; i had to stay in bed all weekend after seeing Spiritualized in Philly, and split the Acid Mothers Temple show last night after 2 songs which is utterly unlike me, the guy who saw the Grateful Dead in 1983 the day after having two wisdom teeth pulled. i'm so fried right now that i don't even feel like internet shopping, and am actually grateful that i have no upcoming shows other than Belle and Sebastian in July.

really, though, i'm doing a lot better than i was a year ago. the depression complex has been relatively under control, i.e. i still trip on it a lot but am more or less functional though i do still lose 6-12 weeks of function from a down swing fairly regularly. i've been clearing tons of trash, recycling, and old clothing out of the apartment, and once i run the next batch of laundry i'll have new(-ish...i've been buying used/remaindered outdoor clothing from Patagonia/North Face/Prana et al.) clothes i really like that fit...i lost so much weight in the last 2 years that a few weeks ago i only had one pair of trousers that actually stayed up without a belt, and found a couple of old band shirts on eBay that i've been hunting for for literal years.

once i get past the next 3 weeks or so things should settle down substantially. they had better, because if i'm spending 3 weeks in the Rocky Mountains i will have to be well-rested and conditioned.

i am feeling terribly sad, though. the other night i was listening to Sunfighter by Paul Kantner and Grace Slick, which i hadn't listened to since like 1980. there's a song on there called "Diana," about Weather Underground casualty Diana Oughton, which is bifurcated on opposite sides of the LP; the chorus to "Diana 2" goes:

sing a song for the children going down
remember the ones you knew
remember what we sang
and remember how we danced
in America so many years ago

this made me think about the world-historical times i've survived. the sad conclusion is that though the whole counterculture adventure was our best shot, we failed. the US is over, and the ecology is following right along. and it's as true in the microcosm as in the macrocosm; i did no better in trying to create a humane home and culture than my people did in creating a better world. maybe some of you coming along behind can do better than i did. i'm sorry for failing you.

Yeah, it'll be 70s Iommi, not old dude Iommi.

Gotta save up for the full day session I've got booked in October first though. Which will be hard because I have 0 financial discipline.

I'm actually doing pretty good. I stopped drinking and started going to the gym to get back into shape. Been feeling pretty good about that. Also, haven't had a hangover in like three weeks, so that's pretty nice.

Congrats!

I guess how we are is tired? We all have children now. Even the ones who haven't realized it yet. Even the scandinavians. We're all forced to endlessly serve these hellspawn.

Hey Poper!
:hello:
We're supposed to get like 5 inches of snow here in Wisconsin tomorrow

My eyes are blind, but I can see
The snowflakes glisten on the tree
The sun no longer sets me free
I feel the snowflakes freezing me

Definitely congrats!

Always tired seems right. I'm about to graduate with my bachelor's degree, getting ready to move to Portland for law school. Turns out moving with a whole fam is way more tricky than when you just load your guitar and skateboard in your car and drive off
