Oh yeah Whiskeytown were probably the best thing he was involved with. I never got the impression they were popular but again I'm young, dumb, and don't understand the market for signature guitar pedals.

Most people that I know who are into ryan adams are really into gear in a bit of a more mainstream sense than ILF. Like they're all guitar players trying to decide if their n+1 guitar should be another strat, tele, or jazzmaster to pair with their fender combo. To be clear, I mean no offense by any of that. I love jamming with all of them. I'm just always saving up for crazy stuff they've never heard of and they're saving up for nice stuff that I'm not concerned with.

I guess super popular would be someone like Ryan Adams. He's the most popular dude I've seen used by non enormous companies (then again, maybe those companies are bigger than I think). So, I guess I'm always interest in what metrics drive builders to do one signature over another.
If Ryan Adams is what we consider big (selling out 2,000+ cap rooms easily, tour bus life, etc.), then I can't comment as we've worked with bands operating at a different "fame" level. A rad dad in his 50s/60s will hear a Ryan Adams song or read about him in Rolling Stone before he knows about Daughters, Bongripper, Defeater, Dreamtigers, or Superheaven.

I mean, a lame ass dad would. :) hahaha

My kids know of all the shit I listen to. Which is stuff like that and more. No Ryan Adams here!

I actually thought he was bigger than he was to be honest. Maybe that was a perception think I didn't quite grab.

Fun fact: Nick Sadler has told me on numerous occasions that my Instagram page is his favorite page. Is there any chance of me getting an endorsement deal? I have zero commercial appeal and can barely play guitar. Not sure if that matters.

Regarding Ryan Adams’ fame level: He’s basically mainstream and/or entry-level “Americana” for a lot of fans of the subgenres therein.

Yeah, sounds like he's just not my scene. I'm aware of most of the bands Fuzzrocious mentioned, though.
Former Bands: Lazy Gaga, Kadis-kot, Pyramids, In First Person, the Holy Fucking Spirit, Take Down Your Art, A Petal Fallen

When he and Mandy Moore got divorced I remember seeing that his yearly income was over a million or 1.5, that's pretty big for a singer-songwriter in this age.

He very successfully staked out a lucrative niche - more normcore than even Wilco but more rock than someone like Ray LaMontagne.

You stated there why your approach is far superior.

Ugly Nora wrote:I dunno about any of that, but I am going to become an influencer. So an endorsement or signature something would be a good place to start I think.
I was offered a "signature" artist instrument "deal" recently. It was some rando builder on Instagram who has like 35k followers. Seemed legit until I thought logically about it. Why do I need to pay for an endorsement (like what), why does it cost me (!600 bucks but I can do upgrades up to 5500...who would actually do that if the value was that high?) and why did they DM me when I can clearly see it's an open invitation on their page to everyone? LOL!

Still. Sig JWAR guitar. AMIRITE?

Nah fuck that shit. hahahaha

About 30 some years ago when I was young I wrote a lot of poetry. I saw an ad in the back of Rolling Stone asking for poetry submissions to be published in a book. I submitted a poem and they wrote me back saying it was accepted and they asked for like $35 to purchase the book.

It sounds like that Instagram cat is pulling a similar scam.

I know it's not easy, but you should write! I found in insanely inspiring how Mr. Doomdad Rigs (now Cathartic Conferences) wrote a horror novel and published it, and I found the book totally enjoyable. Wish I could find the link for it and my copy is gone. I never manage to make my hobby goals happen, but it's really awesome when other people do and it is worth taking steps towards, imo. :thumb:
