Heh. DUBLIN DR. PEPPER RULZ. For the 125th anniversary of Dr. Pepper, they're selling 12 packs of cane sugar DP for the same price in grocery stores down here.

And, lime coke was grody.

It's worth a pilgrimage to Dublin, TX. Every street corner has a vending machine on it, and it's 25 cents for a can of old fashioned, cane sugar DP made just down the street.

I call it Soda, like all civilized beings. Who ever heard of a Pop Meiser??

I used to have a serious Mountain Dew addiction, but now I can't even remember the last time I had one. It went hand-in-hand with my Taco Bell addiction.

Rare soda? Behold: the Grail:

Coke in America actually tastes different in different reagons.

North east is sweeter and south east has a bit more bite to it.

Most sodas are made with high-fructose corn syrup instead of actual sugar. So, the cane sugar makes things taste better (subjectively) and less synthetic.

Something I've heard people do with Dublin Dr. Pepper is heat it up and drink it warm. Apparently, due to having cane sugar, it's not bad at all. :idk:

i don't think hfc syrup has nearly the same prevalence in the UK as it does in the US, not sure if we use it at all in our drinks

Herm. Well, that's interesting. A quick search finds that, on the easy to navigate Coca-Cola UK site, it says "Sugar" while, on the pretty hard to find nutritional information US site, it reads "High-fructose corn syrup". Interesting....

I didn't mean to leave anyone out, a friend who's visiting England relayed to me that they don't know what it is. What is this Irn-Bru? We definitely don't have that in Canada.
Yes you do. There's a Scottish butchers shop in Vancouver imports it.
Anyway, th English don't need root beer becasue they have Dandelion and Burdock -- bet the Amis have never heard of that.

(Yes, it's revolting)

As an aside, why are North Americans so amazed people in other parts of the world don't know every single little aspect of their culture?

I'm pretty sure that has more to do with how successful they've been in lobbying within a given market for the right to call HFCS "sugar" than an actual difference in ingredients. It's pretty much all HFCS, just some places make them call it that, while others allow the more nebulous and innocent sounding "sugar"
Good deals done with all these guys

well this is the US we're talking about, the country that iran hilariously refers to as 'universal arrogance' in all their public correspondence (they do also refer to britain as 'the great satan', which is what they used to call america haha)

and yeah dandelion and burdock is pretty bad, i don't think i've ever seen someone drink it before
