Actually, this is old. Has it been vaping or actually out? Pre-orders up at a bunch of retailers. Not sure I get spending $500 on this jawn.

Yea, I was just shit-posting about the optics/wondering if I missed something. I mean, it is nice to have portable access to 3 8va and a configurable synth, but afaict it's really synth only--no daw-like or even beatmaker-ish features I could tell beyond an arpeggiator. Could be cool for casual jamming, but for anything else :idk: $500 just seems a lot--you could probs pick up a keystep and micromonsta for that and lose a little portability while stepping up quite a bit in terms of sound. I need to look at that, i/o etc to move beyond my shitposter stance :D.
Is it open source? Mebbe if it was an Organelle competitor rather than a vaguely OP1ish looking portasynth? I am interested in your take bc you've put the Organelle and OP1 to work in a band context.... hmmmm

Later--yeah, some of the engines are promising. "Re-inventing the synth" though? Not open-source. Less OP1 size and more Casio SK1 size. :idk:

i could totally use the fuck out of that thing. seems like you could tweak your EQ and/or amp and get a pretty dece banjo sound, too. but what i really want to know is, how well could you get a faux pedal steel effect from it?

I think I shared it last year.

Here's the OTTO, which was announced recently. It's going to be open-source--no price yet.

Regarding the clear OP-1 similarities, obviously we are heavily inspired by it. But if you want an OP-1, this is not it. It takes quite a different direction, and the only things that are really like the OP-1 are the graphics style and basic interaction model. The workflow will be very different, the individual synth/fx engines have nothing to do with the OP-1 ones, and the OTTO would take up a separate spot in your setup.

It’s much more of a groovebox than the portable production beast that is the OP-1.

I'm really waiting for the Champion Leccy Woozy but want to see some more extended demos than the instagram videos.
Anyway it should be out this month.

Stopped halfway trough the video. They seem to have tought of some really cool features (multiple effects programmable in loop segments, layering etc) but it's waaay too much complex for me to be interested right now. I reserve the right to re-evaluate it once it comes out. :hobbes:

I get the vibe that one of the goals of the development is to get it to an intuitive point like most Chase Bliss pedals where you can use the stuff on the top quickly and easily. This seems much simpler and easier to operate than an 856 for Zellersasn, for example, while doing probably a lot of the same things.

So what you're saying is that I should have both on my board, right?

Blooper: Too lofi so far for me (not that I have anything against that but I'd like to start in a better place), locked in loops not a thing for me usually either. The signal should be indistinguishable from what I'm adding live until I mess with it (and the live additions are hifi ideally first).
