i have a pair of green-with-white-stripes Puma Suede Classics that i like a great deal. my original pair came from REI in the 00s and got ruined when i was cleaning up the property at the house i lost. i hunted around on the internet a fair bit to find that remaindered color combination in my size. IIRC the pair i kept--the first was too big--came from the EU where the shoe colors are much better than the US, e.g. i have a pair of Asics trail running shoes coming in which are a bo-ring blue/black color scheme here; the UK ones i'm getting are orange with black.

i can't wear a lot of the really retro shoes, though, because my feet are kinda wack and need arch support. Chucks are right out. but i would totally buy the Adidas shoes i had in the 1990s again. nowadays i tend to stick with more modern trainers when/if i can find ones that aren't fucking hideous.

there's a whole separate Asics website for the retro line at asicstiger.com.

I find that cloth look for modern sneakers horrible. Thank god there is a big market for retro. Otherwise I’d have to scour Goodwills and dunk shoes in alcohol.

On a side note, I’m often attracted to Sketchers but when I see Sket.. I immediately look the other way ‘cause my experience with Sketchers is they fall apart QUICKLY. As in a few months or sooner.

as much as i love my white/kelly superstars, i wear my court stars in red/white/blue much more often. they go with more stuff and i feel less precious about them. if i were to treat myself to some tigers these'd be the ones.

What’s the fit like? Run slightly big? Slightly small?

One of my favorite pairs ever were some Asics track shoes. Light as a feather, practically like walking barefoot. This was 20 years ago. Never been able to find them since.

Man I don't even know how to answer this question anymore. I wear like a 13 in a Nike, but I wear a 12 in converse, and my tigers are 12.5s because they actually make half sizes above 10.. I have skinny feet and they fit really well. Actually one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever had.

That's the best information I can provide

That's what I'm saying. I don't know what a standard fit means anymore. I wear a 13 in Ascics running shoes.. 12 in Adidas..

I used to have more Legit vintage stuff... new balance samples and old saucony stuff, mostly been on a reebok kick as of late, really like the new aztrek releases.
Have a ton of Asics (mostly GT-cools)

paired down the collection to under 50 pairs now I think (from well over 100)
