searching for HI/Lo filter like on the Bitquest

Post by jellyfishfuzz »

got rid of my dr scientist bitquest. The only function i really enjoyed was the hi/lo pass filter. what other pedals out there that can do what that function can do. Not looking for the funky wow wow thing. just the hi/lo pass thing. that made the best radiohead hunting for bears tone ever.

Broughton seems to be pretty focused on filters:

It's expensive, but the CBA Condor is way worth it, IMO. It gives you the filters you're looking for, plus the ability to ramp them if you want (more interestingly than funky wow wow), plus pretty flexible eq, preamp drive, and the ability to save all of these things as presets. Overall might be overkill for what you want, but I can't help but recommend the thing. I like mine a lot.

Te condor is sick but $350 is a lot and as much as I love the chase bliss’s stuff it’s way too much an t options for me.

Fuzzrocious Feed Me is basically interactive high pass and low pass filters.

Penny Pedals Radio Deluxe is not exactly the same, but I have definitely gotten Hunting Bears tone from it (in addition to lofi radio tone).

Another word for "low-pass and high-pass filter working in tandem" is "band-pass." Because wah-wahs are band-pass filters and I generally dislike wah-wahs, I have generally avoided band-pass filters. I was missing out--especially on Harmonic Energizer type circuits. The SRC Effects Frunobulax is one such that could be your friend in the hunt for Hunting Bears tone. :idk: Chankgeez might or might not back me up in that :snax:

:hello:

Yeah, SRC Frunobulax is a pretty powerful tool. :D

Probably not exactly what the OP's askin' for, but worth a look/listen. It's not a high-pass or low-pass filter. It's got a fairly broad range on the filter though. So, it can likely do a good approximation of either. :idk:

Looking at the circuit, it's a blend between two static RC Filters. Probably could setup some neat switching to change the values of the high and low RC pair to give the knob different cutoffs to blend between (look like two frequencies for high and two for low).

Just thought it looked like a nice design but I doubt it would help the OP after checking into it. Still dig it though.
