Sequester all the pedlols, we have to get to the bottom of this!

I have a Wasabi Forward/Reverse. It's fun, but it can't be overstated how huge + heavy the thing is. Some nice sounds (I remember being fond of using reverse delay set super short for an arpeggiator-type sound) but damn impractical to take the thing to a show, when I could take five smaller things instead.

I remember being amused by the comparison to my nano delay, which I love dearly:

Superior color aside, do you like the Ammoon more than the cool little Donner you posted about in the glitch thread?

Haha that's an unfair size comparison! Those ammoons are like 2". I have the looper and the power is finicky. If the plug gets moved at all it cuts out...I should probably open it up

The Minilogue XD looks amazing! I wish it had been available a few months ago. Probably won't be getting one now that I have a Peak, but it's definitely a welcome update

The Ammoon I use all the time... it's actually a really solid "straight" delay, although it tips into self-oscillation pretty easily. (Probably a negative for some people? I like that a lot.) For the sub $30 cost or whatever they're going for now, it's really sweet. It's spent a lot of time in the FX loop of my Superego. That Donner was less good at just being a delay, but fun for various weird sounds — until something went wonky with the power + it stopped passing any delayed signal.

Of all the cheapo delays I tried, that purple Ammoon and the Mosky Blue Delay (Mad Professor clone, so they say) were 100% useful for "regular" delay.

Hm, I have a couple flavours of the looper (there's a less-common Donner-branded one with a switch for 1/2 speed + reverse that is :!!!:) as well as a nano phaser and they've all stood up.... but QC on these things is pretty bad, and sometimes you get a crapola one... like that Donner one I have.

Thanks! Sorry to hear about your Donner's demise--it sounded pretty great on your demo. I'm interested in the quirks of how delay time changes are implemented in various digital circuits/algorithms, and whether accidentally, by design or (gasp) theft, Donner came up with something musically interesting with that pedal. Of course, it would be even more interesting to me in a normal-sized housing with reliable power and i/o components.... I wonder if a re-house with added expression control over delay time wohld be a worthy project? I guess I do see the specialty/individual appeal of the tinyness, though, and the eternal appeal of $22ness....

Turns out it does NOT transpose sequences. So, you get better effects, a joystick, a third oscillator, less control over the envelopes, and more buttons for a sequencer with the same features as the original.

Overall, it doesn’t really seem like enough of an upgrade to make it worth it. Korg’s become the EHX of synths: really great ideas that are almost executed well.

The more I think about that digital oscillator, the more I’m confused by it. The minilogue is great BECAUSE its interface lets you control and change nearly any part of the sound by reaching out and grabbing a dedicated knob. Why on earth would you want to add a main feature that can only be modified with advanced computing knowledge and a completely separate workflow to manage that control?

That digital oscillator is so gimmicky and DUMB.

They might as well have called it the "Minilogue Rawr XD" bc I cannot see the letters X & D together without having traumatic flashbacks to MySpace. Like, when they came up with the name couldn't they have just... googled to check and make sure there wasn't an Urban Dictionary article about it?? I dunno, someone at Korg deserves a firm talking to. That said, if this came out 10 years prior they could have had a serious marketing base before all the scene kids grew up.

solo tunes:
completed works || loosey goosey releases
associated acts:
Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)

I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

So. I'd like some clarification here, because that not transposing sequences thing seems like the dumbest thing ever.

When a sequence is running, say in the key of C, and you hit a D on the keyboard while it's playing, it doesn't move the sequence a step up? I thought every synth (edit: with a sequencer) in the fucking world did that? If that's the case, it's seriously one of the dumbest missing features I've ever heard of in a modern instrument.

I read you can not. I have not read the manual yet tho (is it available yet?)
Monologue does it, Minilogue does not. There must be some serious hardware (processing?) limitations on their polyphonic implementation. :idk:

2019-The year everyone sells their souls to modular.

:) Just kidding. God. Kind of.

I'm predicting releases of the same things over and over again but in a different format that makes more sense for someone out there.
