Re: Controversial Opinions
MYOB, mostly.
Better to listen closely, analyze context before rushing to judgement.
People aren't special just for existing, check your ego.
People create the monsters that destroy them, be careful what you wish for & push into the world because it will push back with interest.
An individual receives no credit for achievements of others, no blame for the atrocities of history unless repeated -- the potential for incredible feats of kindness and devastation exist within, in eternal struggle.
It is possible to criticize something or someone without malice.
Chronically angry people have no business telling others how to live their lives as they implode, themselves.
Make a difference locally, control what you can without intervention.
Make an effort to befriend and understand 'the other' while resisting temptation to reactively misrepresent and distort their intent.
If the stated principles of *your agenda* are/can be violated in pursuit of [it] then the goal is culty totalitarianism, every time.
The concept of justice requires no modifier.

None of these seem controversial to me, although I'm not sure I fully understand your last point. Are you saying the concept of justice is universal?rustywire wrote:MYOB, mostly.

Re: Controversial Opinions
No my last point was saying weird al rulz #1

Last opinion is related to how people like to qualify "justice" when they're really justifying injustice. Animal justice, black justice, corporate justice...social justice etc. Justice is justice unless it is not
Not to be confused with poetic justice/things have a way of sorting themselves out if given ample opportunity/what goes around comes around/opinion #3 etc or

Edit: supposed to be opinion #4* not #3* but serendipity. Also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQ9_uur0_HU

Enterprise wasn’t bad, really. The theme song just killed every episode

Anything that has time travel is bad, because nothing has lasting consequences. The protagonists can just go back in time and undo whatever bad things happened.01010111 wrote:Enterprise wasn’t bad, really. The theme song just killed every episode
YMMV
This thread is off to a rollicking good start, btw.

Heart of Glory was the first TNG episode that mattered.
