Best Garage Sale Finds?

Post by Blood_mountain »

Hey all,
Thought it would be interesting to hear what your best musical find has been at a garage/yard sale, flea market, thrift store, dumpster, etc.

And...go!

I once scored a 1967 Harmony Archtone tobaccoburst-lookin' archtop guitar for 20bux, "as is". It had a few hairline cracks that were easy to fix.
And a 1948 Olds Special tenor trombone for 40bux! I made a mute for it out of a few pieces of cork, a coffee creamer bottle and a contact mic. It enables you to play it without pissing everyone off while also running it through effects 'n stuff.
Now if only I actually practiced.

I found a really cool cheap guitar in a market shop in india, but I ended up not buying it solely because I hadn't withdrawn cash that day. Low key regret, even though I'm sure it was crap quality.

got one of these at a flea market for $40. I had to have a power supply cobbled together for it, and a couple of the keys didn't work, but it was a lot of fun. I gave it to a bandmate who I think actually threw it out eventually, like an asshole.

I found this bass once that was a sunburst LP with an F hole thin line style. Passive, some no name humbucker. Actually sounded great. Gave it to a buddy of mine whos been using it for making beats. Sounds super clean.

Here's it being used with my noise rock band a few years ago.

Once got a boss ce-2 and a fulltone supa-trem for $20 each at an estate sale. Flipped em both and used the cash towards a new amp. My stepdad is seriously the king of finding crazy deals tho, i'll have to find some pics of his weird scores.
good dealings here:

I'm afraid of putting too much in this thread...

A couple years ago from a warehouse sale at a local electronics recycler I picked up three AB International Precedent 1100A power amps (It's a big and heavy class H power amp good for 500 wpc into 8 ohms down to 1100 wpc into 2, or 1700 into 4 bridged) and a project Syncaset 234 for $25. Nothing worked completely right out of the gate, but I do have two of the amps up and running now.

Nice, that’s awesome! I always feel like I’m going to luck out and find something sweet like a vintage harmony, but no luck yet!

I daydream on finding something musical, but it's usually teddy bears and old chairs...the dumpster where I used to live had a broken acoustic guitar.. and picks littered around from time to time, tons of times where Ive seen speakers & I regret not thinking at the time "parts"

Looks like a nice find! Do you have any pictures of the full bass?
