I just ordered the latest and most tricked out version of the Zander Circuitry Cafetiere. The current Reverb sale contributed to a YOLO moment. I can't wait to give it a go and will post impressions afterward.

I'm really interested in this version (V3/7-knob) and am curious about what kind of transistors it has. Can you tell? Does anyone know? Thanks

The original (which I currently own) was 100% silicon. Ad copy seems to suggest the V3 has multiple clipping modes. I'll know more when it arrives in a few weeks.

Shame about the knobs. I seriously dug the original "colour."

Thanks, ck3. I'm wondering if one of the clipping / gain settings of the new Cafetiere can nail the sound of the InterFax.

So, I've landed a boo'ful black One Knob Clang by our inimitable AZX309, and I've been so swamped I can't tell y'all anything other than that it is boo'ful inside and out.

That changes tomorrow :excellent: :snax:

OK--lil hitch--I klutzilly busted the toggle switch on the One Knob Clang and panicked in the moment when things didn't feel/sound right, so I pulled the plug on the Friday debut...but after calming down and thinking it through as far as my small brain allowed, I opened up the pedal, eyeballed the switch and decided to eliminate it as an element of possible problems. With the switch safely segregated, the pedal fired up and fire poured from my amp. :doom: :success:

Seriously - - great sounding Perc here folks!

Totally love it. It seems like the switch is broken with the diodes in circuit to me--it has that characteristic Percolator thing which is hard to explain, both cutting and blatty/horny/synthy; clanging but fuzz-edged. Volume knob roll-back with the guitar was fantastic--perfectly cromulent with all the gain shades I could want.

:joy: :omg: :!!!: :omg: :joy:

I now have experience of quite a few Perc Circ builds--Montgomery Appliances, Frederic Utility, DRock's, AXZ309/Mask's, Dirge, Land Devices, Champion Leccy.....

I continue to be impressed with the range and diversity of these various takes, and am more firmly in love with the circuit all the time. Its reputation for nastiness is well deserved, but its ability to be sweet and, gasp, chord friendly is just as valuable to me, and I'm getting more adept at coaxing controlled feedback at all volume levels.

I had my first Perc for seven or eight years before getting my second a few months back. Now I have 4. Feels like a good resting place, especially given the range of sound and control scheme between Montgomery/DRock/Leccy/and the One Knob Clang. I know I'll always look forward to trying out another, but I can be choosey about which one, if any, I take home.

Clearly, though, anybody looking for a high quality, well-designed take on the mighty Perc need look no further than this thread for satisfaction. :excellent:

I built a straight up Escabedo silicon percolator a while back, and I revisited it tonight anticipating a build for a friend. It's pretty damn awesome. Anybody have opinions on their favorite take on the silicon percolator? I think I prefer it with no clipping. It sounds more raw and through a tube amp it really squeezes out the harmonic distortion. I'm just rapping.
