I’ve been wanting a Super P for a bit now, but I can’t really justify the cost without trying it/I’m not entirely sold on fanned frets conceptually

Yeah, Super P’s call to me as well. I haven’t played one yet either but what I can say is that every Dingwall that I have played has basically been amazing. I am sure you have read about the why behind fanned feet/multi-scale basses and it is true, at least on the longer scale ones that I have played/owned. The B is amazing and clear, the tension on the strings is even so playing technique can be more refined - a softer touch works. The timbre of each note is really consistent.
Switching to fanned frets is not that hard and becomes second nature pretty quickly.

I’ve played a couple of Dingwall, some fanned fret Ibanez and the LTD fanned fret, I get the concept and for how low I tune it’s great, I feel like I’d just have to play one constantly for a bit to get used to it

I got my NG2 after only playing Fender-type basses for years and it was completely natural feeling. Except that I was laughing hysterically at how unbelievably heavy it sounds in the series pickup setting with a little bit extra from the Darkglass preamp. I usually play in GCGCF and the Dingwall holds down that low G like its a Jazz bass in standard.

I am pretty sure those are different colors. The NG bass colors are mostly based off of Italian sports cars.

Ah, thanks. This thread is making me want to go back on my decision to just enjoy what I have instead of selling it to buy a Dingwall

Do it! Nothing like Dingwalls. I am about to sell a really sweet bass just because it feels ruined. The Dingwall is what I pick up every time now.

Yeah, not only does the prospect of a tight low string call to me, but other basses are starting to look wrong to me. Maybe it's just because I've been staring at Dingwalls so hard my eyes are crossed. :whoa:

I took a quick look at the Ibanez and Brice fanned fretters. Ugh.

Those just look wrong. :(

:erm: :?:

I am thinking about preordering one of those D-Bird standards in Purple.
I bet the wait will be a year. Bass Central isn’t too far away from me.

I also am kind of waiting to see if a Super P4 pops up used.

Both isn’t an option but I would like a 4 string to go along with the 6er.

Well...I ordered a Purple D-Bird but it isn't a Standard...I got a custom one with a Wenge neck - it will look something like this:
