For much of human history the working poor were not afforded the luxury of indulging in recreational activities like pursuing music. Therefore musicians tended to be people of greater affluence and financial standing. In the 1600s, the children of farmers were too busy sewing and farming to be dumpster-diving for violas and mandolins. To suggest a rather recent development is how "it's always been" is categorically ridiculous.

A few exceptions?   You threw out centuries of history prior to 1960. Are you some kind of trash-man time traveler? Do you deny that human beings inhabited this planet prior to 1960? No matter how you try to spin it, neither Handel, Haydn, Tchaikovsky, or Rachmaninoff composed on Casios and Fisher Price pony pianos.

Demeter Pedalboard Amp, Traynor Quarterhorse, that balls expensive Taurus thing, Amp1, a few others. None of them are the size of a standard 4-knob pedal, though.
Or just get a preamp pedal and a cab sim like the Digitech Cabdryvr or the Neunaber Iconoclast, it's what I do. :idk:
I've been meaning to go this route for a bit. Been going into a DI and into a PA, which works well enough but is too sterile for me. Do you use both the Digitech and the Neunaber at the same time?

I use a Pretty Years into the Iconoclast actually, I've been looking at actual preamps though. The Mooer preamp series look killer, so that's what I'll probably end up with. Although something more Booteek like the Aion Electronics L5 clone or the Okko Cocaine look amazing too. :snax:

You can certainly build a nasty little amp head in pedal size, but the transformers will need to go in a secondary enclosure. After seeing the Zvex Nano, a friend of mine built up several circa 2004. (about 7" x 4")

As far as the Milkman sound, that and the Tone King are the two best amps I've heard in-person. I imagine if the Milkman was going to become someone's main amp, then the $800 asking price makes a bit more sense. A tube amp-reverb-tremolo combo isn't bad as a 3-for-1 bundle.

If you really just want an amp-in-a-box for saturation, like Inconuucl said, there's definitely some solid and cheaper alternatives (which you may or may not have already tried). I use a Tech 21 Leeds (Hiwatt) for direct recordings. I also bought their Vox and their Orange, but I returned them after I heard the Leeds.

I read a power supply will be included. I have noticed most companies do include a supply if it is outside the 'standard' 9VDC.
That said my brick supply has a slot for 18V as well. Is this standard? I also have 2 18v supplies from another pedal.
Alas...I don't want this pedal

Not really sure that is a correct hypothesis ...Here we see a painting from Mozart probably when he was living in London in 1765.
As we can deduce from this image not all artists were confined to acoustic instruments. Granted Mozart was an exception being educated in various royal courts.

Now that I finished the video, it's a shit demo. I want to hear something more cut and dry, or knobs, this seems like something they'd be into.
