The 3205 is a 9V circuit and the 3005 is a 15V circuit so the 3205 does clip sooner. Just checked and I see they are actually 1/4 the price which is crazy.mamsk wrote:the V3205 is a clone of the MN3205, not the 3005, so i'd think they clip sooner...anyway you can get them for like 1/4 of the price of xvive MN3005s (which are in the TRs and thermae)whoismarykelly wrote:Are the chips in the Thermae 80s Panasonic MN3005 or the reissue MN3005 made by xvive? Aside from the different voltage there shouldn't be a huge pricing difference between them. Certainly not to justify double the price on chips alone. The Chase Bliss pedals are more expensive because they are. Its not a reasoning thing.

I'll try to make this my last off topic post in this thread but regarding ROLLING THUNDER...you need to get on that...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Those other two movies are awesome too. I've seen quotes on mass quantities of XVIVE 3005's. They're cheaper than NOS mojo, but they are not cheap. $499 is totally a fair price for a 4x3005, small-run complex pedal like the TR and Thermae.

Is this really happening?

I tried to buy it years ago, but all I could find was LaserDisc.$harkToootth wrote:I'll try to make this my last off topic post in this thread but regarding ROLLING THUNDER...you need to get on that...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Are those actually available for purchase somewhere?UglyCasanova wrote:I think you mean 80tape In Limbo*, as it sounds exactly like it and seem to overlap in functionality (step/arp/normal analog delay w/modulation)
Oh wait...those are only $220.
Thermo reminds me most of the EQD Space Spiral.
It may actually be the only Chase Bliss pedal I really want to try.

Re: Winter NAMM / 2018 notes
Well, the Prologue isn't a Minilogue x 2. It's a new synth with a new architecture and chassis. Who knows how much R&D went into that user customizable 3rd osc? Triple the price makes sense to me. Double polyphony + another osc + better and more keys + bigger chassis + digital fx engine. It all adds up.echorec wrote:Exactly one year ago DSI released 8 & 16 voice options at the exact same price point. That's not a coincidence. Korg was absolutely looking at DSI, when they chose this pricing structure.actual wrote:I'm not sure they're "targeting" any specific company either, but simply expanding their range, after having succesfully tested the market with their other offerings, Volcas and Logues.
If DSI hadn't released a 16-voice synth for $2K one year ago, then I'd say there's a 99.5% chance we're not seeing a 16-voice Prologue. With the success of the Minilogue, I certainly thought we could eventually see an 8-voice Korg in the $900-1200 range. Instead they took away the Minilogue's sequencer and tripled its cost. Why did they triple the cost, instead of just doubling it? That's what I find maddening.
Also, there's no denying that the 8/16 voice thing is probably inspired by DSI, but I look at it more like they're joining in on a new way of selling synthesizers, which fit the individual customer's needs better.

Re: Winter NAMM / 2018 notes
Adding a third wavetable oscillator PER VOICE, especially for 16 total voices, will really bring up the cost of making those.
Korg definitely decided to try to outdo DSI at the exact same price-point, since they could have left out the extra oscillator and offered it as a cheaper alternative to the DSI. They're trying to say "we're as good as DSI, and have some unique/modern features to boot!"

Well, in my mind all the synthmakers are friends and who have coffee together, so stop ruining that.

Re: Winter NAMM / 2018 notes
Maybe I'm being naive, but I imagine most people who are looking to drop $1500/$2000 on a big poly synth are going to do a bit of research into features and that the Rev2 would still be hard to outsell. Synth buyers tend to be all about the features and the only big complaint I hear about the Rev2 is that it isn't warm and people don't like the Curtis filter.
For the record, I'm not saying the Prologue is overpriced or anything. It just has a lot less bang for the buck compared to the Rev2. And that seems like it would be a big issue going forward. If the target audience was Minilogue users who want a little more polyphony and full keys, I still would have expected Korg to hit 6-8 voices and around $1000-1200. If they are going for serious synth enthusiasts, they've got to rely a lot on being in Guitar Centers (or whatever the big box store is in your country) so people can get a feel for it.
I felt totally fine buying a Minilogue sight unseen because it is pretty cheap. The Prologue isn't cheap, and for anything that expensive people do research.
So I guess I see Korg making a move to be the pro-level analog poly in countries where DSI doesn't have dealers. Obviously there's nothing wrong with that and I'm all for more polyphonic analog synths, I just can't see a consumer with the option to get either a Prologue or a Rev2 going with a Prologue.
Also I don't really see the point of the Volca Mix..... but I promise I like Korg!

If anything, I think it will help Behringer Deepmind sales.
