Modded/relooked Phantom shaped guitars

Post by JTurbide »

Anybody own or have seen a modded/pimped vox phantom shaped guitar ? I'm trying to find examples from builders like Shelton guitars, bilt, puresalem..etc but I can't find any.

I was thinking about maybe switching pickups, knobs, etc on mine and wanted à little inspiration.

Ha go figure. I like that black with binding look and yeah that tele thing doesnt do it for me either. Are those pickups roughly stratocaster sized but square? Whats the routing like under the pickguard? As for knobs, get slime green chicken heads!

I just browsed the Eastwood website, thinking they must have done something. They don't seem to have anything strictly phantom shaped but their Backlund series looks pretty fun.
If I had a phantom, I'd probably want it to look something like this:

I might try do turn it into something similar to a vox delta but with knobs like on JPTRFX pedals. They look so freacking great.

I always liked these Domino Californians:

So, I'm gonna have to suggest some fake wood panelling. That little plaque is nice too.

This phantom built out of old skateboards showed up on r/luthier a couple of years ago. One of my favorite guitars ever. The detail is awesome, especially the pickup rings, control cavity covers, and inlays.
