Bomber jacket = hanging out at the swap meet parking lot with skinheads at 4 am, cooler full of Coors, one dude with his shirt off, and a shit ton of shit talkin'

Tldr: bomber jacket = skinhead or gulf war enthusiast (region dependent)

Avoid the suss.

Gotta have the cash for Ben Sherman to match anyway

Carhartt is good.

California though. Jackets are just to make us look cool. Sweatpants and flip flops.

 My brother was in Desert Storm. :idk:

I was looking around in the coat closet and found this (the jacket, not the fake dad model):
Image
My dad bought it a couple of years ago and realized he thought it looked like shit after it was too late to return it.

Wore it today, because a sleet storm came in, and it was actually fairly comfortable.
Insulated enough that I felt warm enough even with just a T-shirt.
Not so warm that I felt like I was dying of heatstroke (this happens to me often since all stores in Ohio seem to think that, because it's cold enough outside to require wearing a heavy coat, that you desperately want to walk in a store that's heated to 85° while wearing a massive coat that's designed to keep you warm on Pluto :whateva: ).
If the toggles didn't look so stupid, I'd consider wearing it regularly. :hobbes:

Carhartt is pretty dope for warmth. Sizing down is probably smart. Wish I had done the same.

But mostly I just wear denim. If it’s above 32 I’ll wear a denim jacket and hoodie. Also Sherpa lined denim vest if it’s warm enough.

If you have an Army/Navy surplus store near you go there just to try some stuff on. I don't think you'll find discounts there (not my experience) but they have a lot of cool stuff and it's easier to find your fit per jacket...then order.

I like that jacket that you found. A found jacket is a great jacket in my eyes.

Never heard of that store. Looks awesome for jackets!!! The jeans are little too rich for my blood but still really cool. Also, we're not lanky...we're wirey

On the subject of carhartt...echoing a size down. Usually a medium...parent's got me a large for layering...without layers...it fits what I imagine an XL would feel like  If there is ever a kitchen fire in my house and I don't have baking soda...I'm going for that hoodie

I like the zipper hoodies from Old Navy. On sale they are like $20 something and warm.
I’m in the Bay Area though so could here isn’t shit in other parts of the country.

I happen to like Army Sweaters a lot...but they're pricey. I found a good brand that does sweaters for like $10 on Amazon. They fray a bit but they're warm and I think cool looking.

I'm really not one to spend a lot on clothes. A few exceptions being
1. Winter Jacket - Northface - This is super heavy and was like $250. Bought it on the premise that I had my Columbia for like 10 years now (I still wear that one!) so I expect to keep the Northface for like 20.
2. Dress shirts for work -> I fucking hate ironing so the Joseph A Bank Iron Free shirts are worth every penny. Like $60 a pop but totally worth it when they come out of the dryer without a wrinkle.

Thant's really it. Even my boots are cheap now. Forget sneakers. Never more than $35/pair.

Yeah, I have this really heavy Carhartt jacket that I wear when I have to work outside for an extended period in the middle of winter that was something around $150.
It feels almost as heavy as a bulletproof vest and is really warm, so I only wear it in specific situations.

I tend to wear super cheap clothes because I spend so little time "out" since I work from home.
I think my biggest purchase on clothes, lately, was the $45 I spent on my boots.
