Ok, here's a recording of that 3 modules patch, not the type of music I usually do and not really a proper track but it was fun anyway...

http://soundcloud.com/boringmachine/3-m ... rafold-bia

As mentioned above, the only modules used are :
Makenoise Maths : generates triggers for the BIA, bass oscillator and attenuator/mixer. One channel modulates the other, which creates the basic rhythm.
WMD/SSF Ultrafold : processes the Maths' output, with the BIA in the feedback input (the feedback amount is CV controlled from Maths).
Noise Engineering BIA : percussion sound generator, a bit of modulation from various Maths output but not that much.

Aaaand, screw it, I won't get enough sleep today too.

Another quick patch that currently coexists with the previous one, using 3 other modules in my system. This time Intellijel Noise Tools 1U, Mutable Instruments Rings and Alright Devices Chronoblob. With lots of feedback paths all over the place. I'll trace the patch later.

Those both sound great, oscillateur. They probably sound excellent together too!

I haven’t shared pics of the big Doepfer cases here yet I don’t think, got them around my birthday in Sept? :excellent: hi res in the nsfw folder.

Yep, should be! You’ll need an adapter for the plug shape!

My parents went ham for christmas this year and ended up (accidentally) getting me two euro racks (Make Noise Skiff and Tiptop HEK). Gonna return the HEK and put the funds towards something that will compliment my Mother 32 and soon to be finished Dreadbox Hades.

Excited to jump into modular for real but gonna try to take an oscillateur-approved slow and considered approach.

Hah, I actually bought 4 "big" modules and a couple of 1U ones this year. Which is a lot, I think (I do feel a bit guilty). Ah, and also the Teletype expanders because they were only available for a few minutes :).

Next year the big one will be Teletype, plus a few Intellijel utilities and I should be more or less done. I'm staying at 7U as it does make more sense to me as an instrument so if I want to put other things in there, something else will have to go.

Well I ended up ordering a digitakt at 10% off new today. I have 3 hardware synths and a DAW so I should be able to cobble together some computer-less live box fun for shows next year as a solo performer. I did find one (midi/cv, not sample based) model of serious competition - the Squarp Pyramid. It cost more money after euro conversion than the digitakt, but the twistable euclidean grid looks really fun for doing weird stuff. Does anyone have one of these controlling synths or DAW? http://squarp.net/pyramid

Not to be an ass or anything, but none of these things are modular synths...
Maybe we should have a Digitakt / other non-modular sequencers/samplers thread ?

Do you guys ever feel like making a whole board with one brand? (Or like, 90% from one brand?)

I've been feeling that way recently about XAOC Devices. They don't make any oscillators themselves, but I've been really perplexed and intrigued by some of their more obscure modules (that Drezno/Lipsk subsystem is particularly perplexing) and thinking about what I would be able to do with a XAOC setup. You limit yourself in a way but that breeds creativity, too.

When I first started I basically only stuck to Mutable and Make Noise (with Intellijel for utilities that weren't covered) but now I'd say I'm mostly using Intellijel with only a few Make Noise and Mutable modules in my rack. ALM, XAOC, and 4ms carved their way in, too.

I think that most people are talking about the DT in here because it's a popular controller for modular systems via midi - but I wouldn't be surprised if we had a big enough group of people interested in talking about drum machines/samplers/etc. so I'm fine either way.

I think I said a few pages ago that I've been starting to appreciate full racks made by a single manufacturer again. Like most people new to modular, when I first got into it, I wanted to build a full Make Noise rack. Then I realised that there are so many good options from other manufacturers. But now that I'm swapping to mostly semi-modular gear, the aesthetic and functionality of a single manufacturer system is really speaking to me again.

If I had the money I would either buy a Shared System Plus or put together a full Xaoc/Intellijel case in an Intellijel 7U.
