I could be wrong but MIDI Timecode is a different message than MIDI clock, if you are trying to sync Cubase to MIDI Timecode you need a device that sends MIDI Timecode. Most MIDI devices send MIDI Clock, not Timecode. So if Cubase will only slave to MIDI Timecode then you probably need to use Cubase as a master clock.behndy wrote:lol. also, ALSO, woot frustration. have Cubase setup the way it says to do it to clock from an external MIDI Timecode, the MIDI Uno is sending and receiving fine, but nothing changes tempo-wise sending out the MIDI Out from Pam's into the Uno into Cubase.
anybody here super in depth with that shizz? i get MIDI a bit, never tried to big sync stuff though.
going to try to run it the other way in a hinute, Cubase out clocking Pam's then Pam's out into a splitter to go to external devices. not ideal, but if it works it works?

As said, next level stuff. Warpsmasher is ILF resident break-core artist. Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
MIDI clock is pretty primitive compared to other syncing protocols that exist and I think it’s (a small) part of why many DAWs don’t slave to it. I think Ableton does because they try to position themselves as performance DAW. I *think* Reaper does also (Bitwig too?) but I’m not sure. [Edit: nope] I use Logic Pro X, which doesn’t... BUT for live performance (as opposed to recording) I can port things over to Apples Mainstage which can share the same plugins as Logic and DOES slave to midi clock.
Another option: don’t sync your DAW when recording your modular, if you are using soft synths or time based plugins record them afterwards after you have fine tuned the DAW tempo to fit the grid of your recording.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
hurm. interestinnnnnng. that might be it.
i get a MIDI received light on the Uno, no indication of MIDI coming in on the Transport inside Cubase.
INTERESTING. INVESTIGATION TIME.
yeah. it's looking like the easiest way to roll is to sync Pam's to the Cubase, then mult the Pam's out into any hardware i want sync'd up.
thanks homie!

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Well it turns out I didn't get the TGD modular panel. They ended up sending me some other stuff which is cool!
I did see that Dwarfcraft is working on a Happiness module. I was using the Happiness with my Mescaline last night and it is a ton of fun.
So, I guess I'm to go about this the smart way. Get a small, cheaper case/power supply unit. Then go from there. I'm going to be reading through this thread and all the stuff you guys recommended already.

me. YOW. and/or BOOF.
sexy stuff suh.
yeah. i really want a Shifty at some point. they look FUN.
fuck. PCA. i mean. i ordered a Quad Gate Delay from them like 3 weeks ago. it showed in stock when i purchased, they charged me, took my monies. then suddenly, not in stock. waited long enough, went ahead and ordered it from DetMod and asked PCA to refund me. very silly way to do bidness.
...... they SAY they have Shifty's in stock, and it'd only be giving them 10 dollahs more on the Quad Gate Delay order canceling, but i.... i really don't WANT to give them any money.

Tell em to give you shifty at the same price for screwing you around. They should do it....kinda like a cancel and exchange.
They did that for me with the moogerfooger (I do prefer Ctrl and Detroit though...and analogue Haven)

interrrrrrrrrrrrrrestinnnnnnnng. good idea suh!
i just emailed that if they could sub the Shifty in, if it's in stock like their site says, that would make me a very happy customer. we'll see!
almost got the VGates and Manis in the rack (had to shuffle a bunch of stuff). so. now. time to NOISE.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Hey guys. I don't want to derail too much here, but there has been a lot of talk about the digitakt. I don't have a modular (but have nord modular, a6, and sub37) and am looking at hard at this device to do drums as a master and send out midi sequencing. I usually do my drums in the computer via ableton and a mpd32 controller, but I like the idea of taking this single unit out live and being ready to go.
Here's my questions... I read the manual and some of the elektron forums. Is there a way to back up the patterns on this right now? It appears that answer is no.
Setting aside any audio/sample questions, I'm thinking purely midi. Does the digitakt send out midi notes from the patterns created based on the sample hits so i could capture them via DIN track by track back into my DAW? or is it just clock? It seems painful to have to re-record that way one by one, but I want to make sure it can at least do that so I can save it/further DAW mix it.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I’ll take a whack at these even though I’be only had minimal experience with the Digitakt.
If you mean backup/save patterns externally I think the answer is no, but Elektron has officially stated they are working on it, maybe when Overbridge is added or the next firmware release?
I think the next question is no, I believe it only sends midi note on/off messages on the 8 external MIDI tracks, but i could be wrong!

After several days of indecision I ordered Argos Bleak. Also went on an intellijel spree and ordered the Shifty I thought I ordered a month ago, another Quad VCA and a Quad Envelope Generator
