Good luck! I mean on the working part... i'm sure you'll figure out the Teletype and Grids just fine.Strange Tales wrote:I got my Teletype in yesterday. I'm going to go all out tomorrow while I'm "working" from home figuring this thing and the Grids out.

Here's the Rainmaker taking fast triggers from the Telephone Game to continuously randomize all the taps and delay parameters. The wall of drum noise comes from a single Pico Drum, played/ripped/shredded by Kitty Eyes' chaotic fast trigger output. The first minute is just the clean kitty drums, then the wet signal gets faded in and I demonstrate the 'manual Q control while randomizing everything else' trick:

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Teletype is the only big module remaining for my 7U plans, I just got the Telex expanders so I actually have to wait a bit more to get the Teletype itselfStrange Tales wrote:I got my Teletype in yesterday. I'll probably have to remove my Maths to have enough space for the Teletype once I get one and that makes me a bit sad, though...

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
havna really looked at the Teletype. is that a Monome based thing?
....... i..... don't really know much about Monome either. it looks like AWESOME controllers, but it's a whole THING with the programming right?

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
also, this looks awesome. if it works. anybody used something like this?
using the Studio One AR16 is the first time i've had an audio interface that didn't have MIDI in/out, i'm hooking up an ollllllllllllld as BUTTS MidiSport, the little 1 in/out USB to MIDI thinger that M-Audio made? but it can be..... fickle. and just a cable would be NIFTY.
moop?

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
lol. also, ALSO, woot frustration. have Cubase setup the way it says to do it to clock from an external MIDI Timecode, the MIDI Uno is sending and receiving fine, but nothing changes tempo-wise sending out the MIDI Out from Pam's into the Uno into Cubase.
anybody here super in depth with that shizz? i get MIDI a bit, never tried to big sync stuff though.
going to try to run it the other way in a hinute, Cubase out clocking Pam's then Pam's out into a splitter to go to external devices. not ideal, but if it works it works?

Pretty sure I have one of these made by Roland...or Korg...or Yamaha...or one of them?behndy wrote:also, this looks awesome. if it works. anybody used something like this?

I don't know, I still haven't actually opened the box. I specifically bought it because I'll need a USB to MIDI to transfer the factory presets back onto my DX7 whenever I get around to replacing its battery.
Not sure if I'll be much help when I do open it as I do very little between the computer and the synths beyond hitting the record button, but I'll let you know when I do open it and if it works?

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Exhausted. Finally finished rearranging my setup. Uninstalled every module, and reinstalled every module I plan on using.
Spent some time with the new modules. Quick fire thoughts:
Shifty - this thing is going to revolutionize my compositions. Holy shit pairing this with a Metropolis adds so much to the Metropolis it might as well be an official expansion. I love this module already.
Basimilus Iteritas Alter - this blows my Dinky's Taiko out of the water. I need to get them and the Plonk closer to each other so I can manipulate them easier with the Tetrapad.
Tetrapad - day 2 has been using it primarily in "fader" mode which is fucking awesome. It's like 8 expression pedals in one module because pressure and Y position are treated as two different outputs for each of the four sliders/key area. Keeping this for sure.
Akemie's Castle - need more time with this one. It's surprisingly quiet, but in my current stupor I might've just had some settings fucked up. I feel like I need to sent it to the VCA before anything else just for a boost because it's so quiet. I love the tonality already but it hasn't blown me away for the HP investment like the Atlantis - yet.
Tomorrow should be a better day with a full (more like half) night of sleep and hopefully the arrival of the Harmonaig.

Teletype is made by the same people but it's independent of the Grid/etc. (though it can work with it).behndy wrote:havna really looked at the Teletype. is that a Monome based thing?

It's basically a minimalist programming environment for CV generation. It's not for everybody, and works with a keyboard (and not a musical one).

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Eeeeee my roommate got a call from Switched On & they informed him someone in austin bought the new Hsared System Plus, but only wanted the modules. He returned the unopened case, so now we're getting early shipment on the 7U Steel CV Bus case
It's been said here before but Switched On is a seriously great shop and if u aren't in TX/don't have to worry about tax being added they are superb.
Anyone wanna buy my Mantis? I'll likely be swapping it for a 3U 104hp case, and it'd be cool to get a little scratch on top, but I'd be down to hook one of y'all up
