Normally not a fan of J's (basses that is, badummmtsss), but this one what's a finish like that even called?

I guess it's sort of a "flamed" something. I usually don't like that type of finish, but it looks good on that.

I like it, my Aria has the same thing, but it's more of a sunburst kinda deal.

Yea, that's just a stained/dyed flame.

I prefer slightly more subdued in that regard, like on the V I picked up:

Yea, I could care less about the signature or lack thereof. I'd play a SRV strat if I needed what it did or it was somehow the best guitar for me.
