Another vote for the Ibanez Artcore series. Me and my pops both have one, they're great guitars. Especially with some new pickups.

Re: Semi-Hollow Users Unite!
Hey! Got lots of good stuff, thanks guys. I'm definitely looking more for the bigger body, f hole, semi hollows...rather than the old chambered style danos/silvertones. I love the silvertones, but right now those clunkers aren't what I need.
I have wanted a tele thinline deluxe for years, & once I saw the squire ones come out I got really excited. They are certainly on my radar, but right now, just not quite what I'm going for. I have a tele already, though solid body.
Glad to see lots of appraise for the artcore! They are usually cheap used, and the last time I played one I loved it, though it's been a couple years. There are certainly other models/brands that would be better but for my price range & style, the xaviere & artcore are my top choices right now. The epiphones are nice too, but if I was getting one I'd prefer the more expensive casino or wildkat.

Casino's fully hollow. Sheraton II's not bad, esp for the money. I'd really like one of the ones with the mini humbuckers like the originals but haven't seen too many about.Jero wrote:The epiphones are nice too, but if I was getting one I'd prefer the more expensive casino or wildkat.

I have a black Epiphone Dot that I love, but i haven't played it properly in a while, I've been into telecasters a bit too much, but it sounds lovely since I put some Bare Knuckle pickups in it. Heavenly when used with a Big Muff.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff.

I have a Grestch G5120, but I hear artcores are just as good or better, not a bad price either.

Of course! I suppose the title was misleading, I just wanted help getting a semihollow for myself, but it certainly got lots of people talking about awesome guitars

That Sheraton is gorgeous dev! Maybe I'll afford it one day
So the odds are in my favor today boys. I checked clist when I got off work and all of the sudden, to my surprise, an xaviere 910 is posted. That fellow will be hearing from me in the morning for sure. It's the light blue one... which would be my 2nd finish choice but for a bill less, I can manage
He said $200obo, so I'll see if he'll do $175 (cause I need more $$$ for an amp I want on ebay). Hopefully no one has bought it yet!
Found quite a few epiphones and ibanezs on ebay in case things don't work out

Re: Semi-Hollow Users Unite!
So, to update:
I called the guy when I woke up and left a message. Had just enough time to check ILF before he called me back. Said his name was Charlie and that he had an amp shop, to come down and check out the guitar. I was excited to see what amps he had for sale. Kind of hard to find the shop, cause it was in the back of some office buildings, with not even a sign...luckily the guy was standing by the back door with his puppy dog. We (roommate and I) go in, and its an amp repair and build shop. I see a couple Revolver amps sitting around on various cabs & several Fenders, Gibsons, etc in the middle of repair. Charlie plugged the xaviere into a Cowboys themed Revolver that I was seriously stoked to play...cowboys themed revolver COME ON.
Anyways, I didn't really dig into, as that's not my thing, but the amp sounded fantastic as did the guitar. The tremolo in it was from the fender brownface, and sounded stellar. I decided to get the guitar, then we bullshitted for about a half hour. Got tips on speakers, pre planned some work I'm going to have done on my silvertones and univox, all sorts of good stuff. So, my first impression of Charles Prest of Revolver Amps is, he's a pretty cool f'in dude. Good ol' cowboy rockers.
When I got home I plugged her into my U1221 and 2x12, with just enough verb and trem to get real bluesy + the ptp LPB2...

Wow, Jero! Nice catch! Although it's no contest in price (you scored!), but yours and my current favorite are similar:

And I'm calling it a tie.
Thats one angel of a semi-hollow, Jero! Make it sing, brutha!

Err, and has anybody here played the Schecter Corsair (street $699)? Just thinking about it for now.

I've never played one, but they have pretty good reviews on harmony central.

not sure the public opinion of the site on ILF, but there's a link anyways.

Re: Semi-Hollow Users Unite!
i haven't played a Corsair but would be interested in trying one....Schecter's are generally well made guitars, at least the ones i've played have been.
i do have one of these Vox Virage's:

i've had it for over a year and loved it at first (it plays wonderfully) but it didn't record well for me at the time, so i put it away and sorta forgot about it. since then, i've busted it out and absolutely love it in a live situation. it handles volume like no other semi i've played. extremely light, way way light....almost too light.
