The 1st match just ended in a tie...
S. Africa: 1 - Mexico: 1

I will say that S. Africa got away with a bit of luck. Mexico had a goal called back because of "offsides" in the first half. Kinda hard to be offsides with a defender on the goal line... just sayin.

Who plays next? France / Uruguay? I think that's right.

im kind of supporting north korea, they have a player who they call 'the people's Rooney' haha. plus it'll be great seeing them go up against the big countries

that first mexico goal was seriously offside, the linesman made the right call. mexico definitely played well

i just read that a betting agency released their top bets and someone has betted £110,000 on France to win the tournament at 20-1

After seeing the replay they did make the right call. It was a close one, and a good setup by Mexico. There were at least 3 plays that could've been goals for Mexico. S.Africa had a slow start, but I'm glad they continued the tradition of opening match not being lost by the hosting team.

Also, Mexico gets my vote for coolest looking jerseys. The black w/ green and red trim looks sharp!

USA! USA! USA! dude, seriously... what was up with england's goalie? little kids don't even make a mistake like that... sheeesh. We'll take our point, thank you :thumb: But we did stand up to England pretty darn well actually... I was worried about a blow out, but we did good! Gives me hope for the rest of the tournament.
"abandon all hope ye who crush that button..."

That goal was a total freebie. But like you said, I'll gladly accept. I feel pretty good about getting by Slovenia and Algeria. Making it to the next round should be extremely likely... that is if we don't completely suck it up. England was the one game they weren't expected to win. A tie in this case was a win for the US.
