but I think you underestimate the number of racists in Trump country. My opinion/experience. But I agree with the sentiment...I'd just suggest it's closer to 90%.

Didn't want to get involved but I couldn't let this be said without inputting that I live in a state that Trump won by over 20 points and down here, the inverse is pretty much true. Maybe 10% of his voters aren't racist but I do live in a really racist part of the world, which I abhor. They may publicly say the right things but I hear them when they think they are among their own and yeah, Trump voters are just a bunch of racists in the deep South. It really is almost like that SNL Eddie Murphy sketch.

All that Taking Down The Confederate Statues Is Erasing History is just a bunch of code for them: Oh, he's one of us!

Interesting that the perception is completely different in the Northeast.

And actually, in my experience, all of the Trump supporters personally I know have said somewhat/very racist things...but I don't know a lot of people personally. I'm talking a sample size of like 5 people I've met/know who are open Trump supporters.

Sure, but, I think we all need to come to the realization that polo shirts are the symbol of white supremacy and should be outlawed in any country that is not actively pro nazi, maybe golf as well for good measure.

Reading this thread this morning, I confirmed a lot of impressions I've had lately.

1) Bossman is annoying, but the little crew regularly uselessly ganging up on him is just as annoying if not a whole lot more due to the QUANTITY of it.
2) Syl is a saint, considering how calm and polite he remained after trying to get a thread that could have been a really interesting thread about a really interesting pedal back on track and the absolute BS he had to deal with for that... not to mention none of the involved parties have apologized to him after he clearly stated his discomfort.
3) Goroth and DoS are the voices of reason on this goddamn forum.
4) I'm really struggling with enjoying reading the ILF in recent months because of how constant this BS is, and it would be very nice of all involved parties to DIAL IT DOWN. I don't think there's less interesting conversations, I think the actions exhibited in this thread are taking over a more serious share of the forum content.
5) Complaining privately to other members isn't doing much, so I figure I need to make an effort to state more regularly that some actions are shitty.

And because Pope is the queen of ILF, I suggest all parties involved read this carefully:

Velvet Hammer is omnipresent but usually intervenes silently.
Its not often the VH has to act but its invocation is normally reserved for the most horrendous of abhorrent offenders, obviously, because the rest of us are full time shitposting.
The past year in the real world has been tough on everyone, so my guess is this is some of that spilling over here, so beginning a fight to keep this place as it was and attempt to retain some immunity from what seems like a nonsensical shitstorm, or to recognise that perhaps no place can exist untouched from the taint of reality and that survival requires adjusting for stasis accordingly.
The great philosophical divide, staring ILF down as we peer down into its unsettling and uncertain abyss, desperately searching for signs of hope that the path across is without ugliness.
