RM-1N, sometimes when turned on it's super quiet and tinny, requires either a bit of a slap or reconnecting the power supply to fix it. Upon inspection a month or two ago, the plastic input for the power supply had cracked and bits had fallen off, wires and solder all still fine, re-secured it, problem persists.

If you have ANY soldering skills, you should be able to try a new power jack

For the record, this morning I clicked "No" in the survey. Although, I agree with most points in this thread, namely 1. If the company goes out of business 2. If it is a super small operation and, goodness forbid the builder, is ill (mental or physical).

...then I saw it was an ILF builder and that changed everything for me  I'm such a hypocrite.

I had a really long post as a draft but jwar summed it up succinctly. 'Don't offer one if you can't do it'. I think people feel pressured to offer that but to me 1. Customer service should not be an advertising point for standalone (simple) products (I have been on both sides of the "customer service" dialogue and both suck) 2. I think it is silly for the consumer to think a two year old company has the means to back up the promise (Olin, this is not indicative of your situation, I wrote these thoughts before I knew who it was).

In conclusion, I do think someone who offers such a thing should at least grandfather previous purchases and/or do what crochambeau said and say "hey I'll fix it this time but going forward".

Wow, still a long post. If you BOSS Pedals or MEON Faucets you better own up. MEON says that shit last for life. It doesn't and they send you a new one.

The business shutting down or the owner being ill would likely mean they wouldn't be able to honour their warranty, not so much that they're deliberately rescinding it.

I see your point, for sure, but don't think it's a very good excuse. Jwar's totally right and you shouldn't offer what you can't give; and I don't really think it's silly for a customer/consumer to expect a promise to be fulfilled. I also think if a relatively new company found themselves incapable of being able to sustain their warranty, they should publicly address it and at least let people who have bought things know so that they're aware. I guess it's hard to be sympathetic to what would be plain incompetence (what you're describing, I think, sorry if I've misread it), and that's a big part of the reason Devi is such a condemned piece of shit.

I haven't done any soldering for a pretty long time, but can probably do that, I guess it's not like I'm going to void my warranty :whateva: ........

I agree ha-ha. I don't know, I just say shit sometimes. I like to walk through other perspectives and thoughts. Like I said I did click 'No' and stand by it...for now.

From what I've seen, his early stuff tended to have floating boards and hectic wiring, so. :idk:
You'd think an ILF builder would be more willing to fix that, though.

Apparently, this guy contract builds for 'em:

Not sure what he'd charge for a repair.

(Also, this thread title sounds like the title of a Strong Bad Email.)

Yeah, current stuff is really tidy on the inside and the PCB's are really well laid out.
I feel like I need to get one of those "soccer-mom-let-me-speak-to-the-manager" haircuts now.

If it's just the power, I can fix it easy. Now I did recently have someone send me a Devi circuit I had to return to them for full discretion because it was a bit of a mess in there and I just couldn't do it without having to replace parts and rehouse it. At least that's the only way I'd be comfortable with it.

I'm familiar with Andrew's stuff and have rehoused several of his pedals.

If you want to buy the parts, I'll repair it for free. Just pay shipping and shit. I should be easy.

I can also replace that light with a 10 mm LED if you'd like. I hate those things.

Up to you.

Also, his older stuff was very well done. Never had an issue and I've owned or tried everything he's made. Even some stuff he didn't release.

Just an update for anyone interested. Andrew apologised and said he'll be happy to honour his warranty. It's very nice to be able to approach a builder and have a positive experience, and I guess what this whole community is about, right?

Jwar, thanks very much for the offer though, I appreciate that.
