annnnnnd MAN the Error Box is disappointing. are all Audio Damage boxes so..... flimsy? the pots are circuit mounted. feels like i'm going to wreck the thing every time i adjust something.

sooooo it's going back. gonna swap it for a Pulsar. because WOOT BAND WAGON BITCHES.

...... neat that they offer it in silver and black plates.

I have honestly avoided them because I could see the pots wiggling in demos and I knew that would drive me nuts. I know tons of people love them though

yeah. i.... just don't trust that. and it's weird, because his stuff ks NOT cheap. there was a thread on Muffs where he was explaining why his price point is where it is (i think when the Chronobloops came out), and i thought that meant higher build quality,

but..... SKEERED KE.

also, just didn't sound that good.

The first Audio Damage modules have pots mounted in a similar way as the Makenoise ones, and apparently many people complained (even though apparently there's no issue with them beyond a different feel) so they changed that with their subsequent modules. The Errorbox is probably one of the first they made, hence the more wobbly pots.

Yeah I can't say I'm a huge fan of Make Noise pots either. I'm sure there's no issue with them, but I hate wiggly pots.

I have the AD Spectre, and the pots are decent, definitely better than their first lineup, but there is still just a tiny bit of give when you put them to the wiggle test. Still not Doepfer strength, but closer to it at least.
As an effect, it was kind of a letdown at first. After reading up on it and getting psyched for some granular craziness, it turned out to be not that crazy at all. I guess I didn't realize when I was watching the demo, that it's a very honest demo and basically shows everything you should expect from it, which is not much really, so you just have to find creative ways to use it. I got it for $100 off used and probably wouldn't have paid new price, because the demo doesn't really show enough to make anyone go all FUCK YEAH HOLY SHIT or anything...but I kept it and got used to it, and I do like having it around. As an extra 'glitch voice' module it's actually quite good, because it can be so subtle and sparse. It's not a big face clobbering effect, it's more like occasional swats and scratches.

Did I mention I finally have an O_C on the way?! I'm so excited! I'll be one step closer to this:
https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/463026
In other words, I'll have this:
https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/431105
And this too I guess:
https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/431118

Also, do any of you guys with an O_C have a black panel for it (not necessarily Magpie)? Would you want to trade for a black Grayscale Maths panel or a grey Grayscale O_C panel?

Sat down to execute a specific idea with my system, was not happening, got frustrated, picked up guitar, lamented that I cant play guitar much anymore and how much more immediate it is, felt dispondant, decided that wasn't any good, went back to the modular... then :!!!:

This format really is all about exploration and discovery. I found a crazy cool way to phase/sequence rhythms that I had no conception of...

The Beat Step Pro's new polyrhythm mode works in a really interesting way, like it always seems to be counting all the possible step lengths in the background and snaps any real time changes to the grid, so it keeps the sequence in sync regardless of the step length changes. Coming from my experience with Korg's active step I thought this was a drawback at first, but it keeps a sense of cohesion when drastically changing step lengths

Also, I picked up a DPO with some cash I got from selling some other gear (rip Batumi), and it does not disappoint. It can drone as nicely as I thought, but god damn is it way better at making percussion than I anticipated. The FM normalization is super handy for blurring the tonality of the oscilator(s). Many sounds yet to find.

Still in the 90hp skiff, have the Telharmonic and Mysteron sitting on the sidelines since the DPO displaced them. Unless I find a good deal on a case I think im going to stay in the skiff for a while, keep myself limited/focused, then once I get to a certain point of benched modules I'll get a 6U case and have everything in one home :)

noot NOOT.

i had sort of the opposite tonight? had something i was running that i liked a LOT, all incremental accidents. but then i tried an idea and it just.... turned to shit. so much messy complete poopness.

like. a Poop Wizard from the Defecation Dimension would marvel at the beautiful relationship the audio output shared with Shi'Te, Mad God Of Butt Ejections.

..... it. did not. sound good.

also, finally got some time to sit down with the Batumi. so GOOD.

but i was most excited about the Quadrature mode. and it was running.... kind of.... backwards. and sliders 2-4 were doing THINGS.

....... took me like 30 minutes of thinking it was broken or i watched demo vidjas whilst drunk and remembered them wrong (and i don't really drink) then i saw there was an Expert Firmware available. that. apparently was loaded up.

going to load the og system loot controls tomorrow, get my head around that.
