[It's not really about playing so much as it is or becomes about finding the thing or things you think you need to aid in your playing or creativity.

For me I'm at a point again where I want less pedals and want to focus on playing/breaking old habits and see if I can find what I want from the guitar itself, or bass.

Even with synths too. I don't want lots of them and I like the idea of doing more (or what is needed) with less and getting everything out of an instrument.

been thinking over this today, cuz thats how ive been feeling towards my pedals....I like the "movement" and sculpting I can do with my pedal board...but nothing is better than one instrument, or working with a couple at the same time (less effects) that can invoke a emotion of "that was it" / "religious experience"

just a delay and an echo is all pedals im using with 5 synths at the moment..

ever cry over your session being so good...or like cry during a peak moment of jamming were the sound is so intense it embodies your psyche?

ah but YOU know what I mean, most demos of componat synths are like most demos of guitar stuff... 60s-70s receationalists. I don't have anything against people doing it but I also don't think people should call it experimental or new, and for gods sake wear a cape if you must go through a yes phase

People calling their stuff experimental is just a means of getting a sort of free pass for your music sucking. At least that's why I use that tag on my Instagram.

Some of the pedal boards on here boggle my mind and are probably worth more than my Jeep. In comparison, I think I tend toward minimalism. I usually just use fuzz, reverb, and/or delay. Once in a while I use a wah pedal. I never really know what to do with modulation effects, even though I have a vibe and a chorus and I'm GASing for a flanger. I also spend some time playing clean, trying to master real chord changes, which have always been difficult for me.

I've never cried over anything I've done, but I do lack objectivity about my own work, at least for a while. I start out thinking it's totally awesome. Later, after I've listed to it about a hundred times, then I feel 'I guess it might be kind-of-sort-of okay.' Then later when I listen to it I inevitably think 'Why didn't I do X instead of Y? Aaaaargh, how could I have been such an idiot?'
