Right before Christmas I got mugged and kidnapped in my own car OUTSIDE MY OWN APARTMENT. Obviously the guy let me go. It's a long story and I've told it to nearly everyone I see in person, but if anyone wants details for any reason I'll lay some out. So that was fucked. I've since moved to a different part of town, because fuck death threats, whether they're fake or not.
THEN, literally like two weeks later, on January 2nd, I had to have my appendix removed. For years I would get pain "attacks" in my gut, that would just sort of go away on their own after a couple days. The doctors never thought it was appendicitis for some reason, so I resolved myself to going to the doctor/ER the next time it happened. I was staying at my parents' place to visit for New Years (plus I was still shaky about having a gun held to my back) and I woke up with the pain. Long story short, my appendix was about to burst and I had it removed.
The last thing was my shoulder. I injured it somehow during gymnastics last fall, and had been dealing with it for months (November to now....). Long story short for this one: I ended up getting shoulder surgery in February, and it's been since then that I've been trying to get back into regular activity, whether that's exercise or playing an instrument.
Now I'm getting all excited to play again, but it'll be a long while. I still can't really play guitar right-handed (for anyone who remembers that story) so I'm trying to get the left-handed guitar going. My right shoulder was the one that was worked on, so I couldn't fret (left-handed guitar, 'member?) for months.
OK, I'm not going to write a book here. Just wanted to say I'M COMING BACK.
