I really enjoyed it too. Reminds me of Dune.

Re: Twin Peaks?
I'm gonna have to watch that latest one again. I watched it this afternoon and was struggling with all kinds of reflections off the screen. It's definitely a night time viewing.
For me, nothing's topped that first 30mins or so of the new season, with the thing in the glass box. That bit was.... wow. That's the best moment in all TP, probably.

Re: Twin Peaks?
Yeah holy crap last night's ep was wild. I think Episode 7 was my favorite so far in terms of plot advancement, but last night's was super great at hinting towards explanations for things?
Was that Penderecki playing during the bomb scene?
Spoilers & theories to follow, don't read on w/o watching thru S03E08:

And don't forget, Mike had a tattoo on his arm of MOM. Before he lost his arm.
I think all your theories are spot on.

God damn it, I still haven't seen the original series, but this sounds like the exact kind of show I feel like right now.

Re: Twin Peaks?
Good theories baremountain. I've been thinking similar but not as concrete things as you. Jeez do I regret not having seen Fire Walk With Me, seems like a lot of the stuff in the new series hints towards the film. I understand you're supposed to understand certain things, but can't relate, obviously.
Otherwise, music during the explosion (and/or "birth of Bob" if that's what it was/is)-scene was amazing. Absolutely stunned by it.
As far as the poem goes, I've no idea really. Perhaps it refers to mankind being the creator of the evil that will torture/destroy it "this is the water and this is the well". Or maybe it's some kind of reference to a symbiotic relationship, Bob and man, good and evil? Black and white? I'm never been good at these things and that interpretation surrely doesn't help much either. Interesting episode anyways.

Now is the perfect time to watch it! Honestly, you can skip about 60% of the second season and not miss much important story.MrNovember wrote:God damn it, I still haven't seen the original series, but this sounds like the exact kind of show I feel like right now.

Re: Twin Peaks?
^^It is on showtime as well. Definitely worth watching at least once if for no other reason than Chris Issac's beautiful hair. Digging season three a whole lot.

Re: Twin Peaks?
that froginsect tho ...
I really like this new season. Was not sure what to expect or where he would take this but from all the work Lynch did this reminds me the most of his earlier short films that were incredible
really lots of experimenting with visuals, texture, motion abstract/subconscious ideas ... and sound!! the soundscapes in these episodes are often really great.
I actually gave up trying to find too much meaning or logic in the stuff he does though, just try to take it in

If you're talking about the music during the atomic blast, it's this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threnody_ ... _HiroshimaPanicProne wrote: Otherwise, music during the explosion (and/or "birth of Bob" if that's what it was/is)-scene was amazing. Absolutely stunned by it.![]()

That's exactly what I thought it was.friendship wrote:If you're talking about the music during the atomic blast, it's this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threnody_ ... _Hiroshima
I listened to this one time on LSD and it was one of the most unnerving experiences of my life.
Oh holy moly, I'd forgotten that.neonblack wrote:And don't forget, Mike had a tattoo on his arm of MOM. Before he lost his arm.
There's a free version online that's got all the deleted scenes edited in at the proper places. It's not really "free", as you're supposed to have paid for a copy before you download it, but it doesn't cost anything because the person who edited it together can't rightfully sell their edit. I highly encourage you to watch the extended edition. It's a doozie at 3.5 hours, but some of the 90 extra minutes are super important. Also it's the only real character service Phillip Jeffries (Bowie) gets during the franchise, and they cut a remarkable portion of that out in the theatrical edition. They mentioned him this season when talking about how either Coopr or Briggs went rogue and started corresponding with Jeffries (i can't remember which at this point, but I know they both interact with him).PanicProne wrote:Jeez do I regret not having seen Fire Walk With Me, seems like a lot of the stuff in the new series hints towards the film. Find info about that cut here: http://welcometotwinpeaks.com/news/twin ... s-fanedit/
I suppose it's worth mentioning, too, that the theatrical cut *is* the cut Lynch wanted, but I'll take this as one of those times where the director's vision was (largely) off-center. Some of the deleted scenes could have definitely gone though. There are a few uncomfortably long shots, but that sounds an awful lot like this season, so it's par for the course
