Br00tal Cleans
I've found myself wanting to have some loud clean passages in my noise rocky stuff. Maybe with a little delay and/or spring verb but still clean. HOWEVER I still want it to be weird and/or noisy somehow? Uncomfortable? Any recommendations for bands that do this well? I'm also trying to avoid the post-hardcore clean/dirty/clean cliche. Also what do you do to spice up your clean parts?
I've also thought it would be sweet to have a TAFM with the fuzz way back in the mix and the clean volume turned up so it's like a little fuzzy accompaniment.
But that's just GAS talking

Re: Br00tal Cleans
make your dirt even dirtier.
then add gain to your cleans.
and mids. probably more mids.
honestly -- i think that it's more about the dynamics than it is about the sound.

Re: Br00tal Cleans
I try that extreme mix move every so often with my frazz and it never sounds how I want. Can't say it isn't what you want, but I think it can be more powerful to go from lots of dirt to none. The big contrast is a cool effect in itself.

I really recommend 7th generation and boikleen, both are really good at extreme cleans.

Ringmod mixed low. SSBS F*** with the gain low and the hi-cut and threshold dimed.

I was gonna suggest The Mark of Cain, Ricaine or some of that Unsane business, but this Shellac thing is legit as well.popvulture wrote:Listen to Shellac.

Perfect time for a minimum gain HM-2? Unless you have high output pickups, then it'll distort a bit much maybe.

Re: Br00tal Cleans
Some of the slowcore bands do this pretty well. Codeine and Bluetile Lounge come to mind.

Phanta uses ringmod set low, as does Colin (iirc) - both old school users here. It is a rad way to add dynamic to clean parts but I wouldn't want always on.reckon luck wrote:Ringmod mixed low. SSBS F*** with the gain low and the hi-cut and threshold dimed.

Re: Br00tal Cleans
Never tried it but that does look like a sweet option.
Also, I have 2 videos of my suggested use on the Hm-2
