The bass side is better for most things. Even on guitar, I thought it sounded better. Since most of the stuff people use them for is rhythmic, it emphasizes frequencies you don't really notice on guitar. And the MIDI tempo sync thing is wonderful. I had a pitchfactor, MF-104M, Boomerang III and Murf all synced to the same clock. MIDI version was by far the best, and I owned the regular one (but only played the bass one).

Yeah selling the reg to get the MIDI has seemed like a losing exercise, thus gear paralysis.
