Glad you're getting the intent, no harshness meant. :)

AI did you ever figure out what you were doing with your foray into synthdom?

Yeah, I posted what I wanna do a couple of pages back. I need a job first though.
actualidiot wrote:So, I've put together this 'dream' system. How much psu headroom should I aim for? According to modulargrid, the draw of this is 900 mA +12V, 365 mA -12V and 0 mA 5V. The uZeus gives you 1000mA at +12V, 500mA at -12V and 170mA at 5V, so there's 100mA left at +12V and 135mA at -12V. Is that sufficient? Also, what I have in mind with this, is the potential of having 3 separate synths at one time, an effects section and a versatile modulation section. I know a dedicated mixer would probably be a good idea, but I figure I can use the Maths, modDemix and the mixer on the 32, since I probably won't be using all 3 synths at the same time all the time. Any issues other than that? Alternative modules I should look into?

Bear in mind, that this system would take me several months to assemble, and that I'll probably change my mind as I go along.

It's a mixed bag. I miss the gear nerding but I have no gear with me so it's mostly just like porn: equipment edition. Same feelings of drained emptiness and mild discontent afterwards.

I'm happy with my selection so far just missing some utilities. I'm sure I'll sell and trade some stuff off after I get used to what I want but did the same thing with pedals and I enjoyed how I went about that so it's all good.... and yes, comical.

Looking forward to a Phonogene on the way which doesn't really fit but I'll swap things in and out. Should keep me happy for a good while I think. :)

Use another gate/trigger (or the one triggering the envelope...you gots 8, use em) output to run the modulation/Exciter on the trigger input of the braids.

Is that what you're asking?

Varigate 8 and voltage blocks has some over lap. Use the voltage blocks more for changing timbre and and stuff on braids in sync with the varigate. Use the clock and gates on varigate to run the voltage blocks. (Gate out (or clock out) clock in or reset).

I've never used either sequencer, but that's the basic idea (and you can complicate it from there. Comparators/logic, vcaing/ring modding clocks, voltage adders and all that)
Thanks again man! Thanks to you I was able to come home before heading on a trip and do this real quick which actually has some melody to it!! It'll be better when i get to sit down and spend time programming the notes and lengths and effects and blah blah blah but i'm more excited now!

oscillateur wrote:Yeah, there are very decent and not that expensive cases available now. Staying with Tiptop, the Mantis is a much better thing to get than an HEK for example.
What don't we like about the HEK? Just curious. Mantis just seems way bigger than I want to go in this stage of my life... although I guess I could put the folktek in it when that gets here and sort of save space in that way.

Like put the HEK in the Bento Box? That seems like a good solution.

edit: just got my googling going the right way. This is definitely where I want to end up, gear wise:

Thanks for the heads up!
