The thing in the video about "show don't tell" regarding Rogue One is that the other Star Wars movies have a huge block of text at the beginning explaining what you're about to see. You are told that so- and so is the resistance's finest pilot. That's telling and not showing.

I guess he was referring to character building and character arc lines though. The text at the beninning is a sort of History context\background.
I actually think that I enjoyed more Rogue one in the end, but I must say I agree with LFTS, The force awakens managed to introduce a bunch of new characters.
They're both useless movies and just a way to make money without trying to come up with new stories, but that's the trend. We're in remake\sequel era!
