Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Rainmaker is a massive HP hog, but a great thing to have. It's a game changer for your whole case situation...that kind of heavy hitter that will make you consider even a 4 or 5 row solution. It sort of belongs in a 3 row setting at least, I think.Muse FTW wrote:Does anyone here use the Intellijel Rainmaker and/or uScale II? I'm looking into both to expand my current setup.
Also I figured I'd try: what sequencers do you guys think would compliment the Metropolis well? I have 2 Pressure Points + Brains but I'm using that more for modulating other modules, not necessarily sequencing their pitch (since it's not quantized).
I still have 22 HP in my current case setup but (un)fortunately 20 of that is going to a Morphogene, so I think I'm going to need to get another case to keep fueling my addiction.
I'm thinking about removing everything from my Make Noise Skiff and going for another 2 tiered solution, although at the rate I'm buying modules I might need to start looking at 3...

I really want one. Then I see the price tag, then I look at the list of things I want. Life sucks.

Kilpatrick Phenol incoming soon. Will be learning modular synthesis on it.

Such is life on the euro crack pipe. I sold my Eventide Eclipse to preorder mine. Confessions of an addict.Strange Tales wrote:I really want one. Then I see the price tag, then I look at the list of things I want. Life sucks.

I was 95% sure I'd buy a Mother-32 as a first synth, then I saw resincum on instagram, now I'm really considering the Pittsburgh Lifeforms SV1 Blackbox

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
So once I decided to move up from the Microbrute...my big contenders were:JTurbide wrote:I was 95% sure I'd buy a Mother-32 as a first synth, then I saw resincum on instagram, now I'm really considering the Pittsburgh Lifeforms SV1 Blackbox![]()

Mother 32 , Lifeforms, 0-Coast and Phenol.
(Also adding a Beatstep Pro to the mix)
Initially, I was convinced I was going Mother 32 route with a plan to expand into a case down the road.
But I kinda felt that plan was similar to the Brute: buy to expand...
So once I realized that the Phenol made the most sense. It's freakin modular at the get-go and seems very versatile from videos I've watched.I felt it the best to learn modular synthesis on while still being expandable to Eurorack in the future.
All good choices really...

it is sooooooo awesome. love it for those juicy fat 'analog' tones (i think it's similar to that moog flavor) and perfect for horror soundtrack stuff.. I'm going to be so happy once I get a proper sequencer
i'm glad i can call you a friend. even if i'll never see you again

What sequencer do you have at the moment and why don't you like it ? I'm trying to figure out which one I would get with the SV1 if I go that way .. (I have absolutely nothing for now, no keyboard, no sequencer, nothing and I'm on a quite tight budget)

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I've just been using the arp on the sv1. no proper sequencer yet but I plan on getting a beatstep pro. I want to give each oscillator a different sequence kind of similar to the stuff in that thread you posted (1 osc runs through the whole sequence while the 2nd one only advances at the end of each repetition). I think its the cheapest way to accomplish that anyways.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
So I have actually successfully traded or sold almost everything I was trying to and in return I've got some ridiculously cool stuff on the way (and some here already).
Went from 12U 84hp to 3U 104hp plus a Mother 32, Sub 37, 4046-m, Unpleasant Surprise, SQ1, QuNexus with MIDI expander, and Microgranny. And I spent some money on the Mescaline. I'll have to buy a proper 3U case at some point (probably the Make Noise Skiff) though, because I've only got a HEK right now. Pretty sure I'm breaking pretty much even on all of that.

Cheapest way might be the SQ1 actually. I haven't had a chance to really mess with the one I just got but it is two 8 step sequencersresincum wrote:I've just been using the arp on the sv1. no proper sequencer yet but I plan on getting a beatstep pro. That's awesome. I love trading a whole rig...start fresh, remember it's just gear, get a new set of tools to goof with, &c.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.
