Nope. One was definitely the Mantic and one was definitely the MT-2. The fact that you think it was trolling and the same pedal is confirmation enough that my initial thought was correct.....the two pedals sound almost exactly the same.karmablock wrote:Or could be trolling and it is just the same pedal twice.Snufkino wrote:The comparison clip makes them sound fairly similar.GardenoftheDead wrote:Look the MT-2 was my primary distortion sound for 7 years. It's nothing like the mantic or the HM-2

The Mantic was pedal 1 and the MT-2 was pedal 2.wfs1234 wrote:I think holding boutique pedalbuilders to a high standard is a good thing; even if the overall approach here is super troll-ey. I mean, you can be an asshole and still make good points? If his sole shtick is sticking it to small builders and shitting on people making free content that's something else.
I didn't like the way either pedal sounded, but I'm going to guess the second one is the Mantic? I played an MT-2 in a guitar center years ago and thought it was awful. The second one sounded slightly better to me, so I'm gonna say that's not an MT-2?

Correct. It's all about taking the time to dial it in right, which isn't all that hard. I ended up with the MT-2 after a long and relatively fruitless run thru boutique land. Went thru basically every flavor of the month at TB and then just decided that the Boss pedals of my youth kicked ass back then so why not give them another chance. I ended up selling most of my boutiques in favor of a small collection of Boss classics. The only boutiques that survived the cull are the Mantic Vitriol, Built By Ryan Guvnor, COG Rogue One, Big Game Bedlam III, Jext Telez Dizzy Tone and a Big Game Fy-2. I have a Cog mini 66 and a Dunwich Volt Thrower on order, but truth be told, I'm having so much more fun with the old Bosses I may end up selling all the boutiques. Some of the above list are on Reverb right now in fact. The Built By Ryan pedal is particularly great though. He's my favorite boutique builder because he keeps it real without all the artisinal marketing bullshit.Strange Tales wrote:MT-2 was my first pedal for bass. Honestly that thing can cop some mean ass shit if you use the EQ right. It can also sound like a barrel of shit.

Be a fucking member of this community is what I'm asking. Contribute to something other than pointing out the obvious (that boutique shit is clones of other shit...duh).

Can't it be both?jwar wrote:It just means this year I'll be sending nudes to you instead of the warm Christmas card.

Yo wassup Vid. Second one is the Boss. I could be wrong, but I think you're responding to the prescence of the mids, which imo makes the Boss cut thru a little better than the Mantic. You're the second person who likes the Boss better in a blind test.vidret wrote:I liked the second one, very very very slightly. extremely similar. haven't looked to see which is which.
